I don't like Zombie movies a lot, and I don't watch <span style="font-style: italic">Walking Dead</span>. No animosity, it just doesn't float my boat.
Early this past Summer, my Granddaughter (16 a week from today) saw some Zombie Targets it Wal-Mart and asked me to buy some.
Since then, we've had a bunch of great afternoons together shooting Zombies, and she's even started competing in our club's FV250 matchse.
I fully expect I'll never see or get to shoot at a Zombie in the flesh. As far as I'm concerned, the words 'Zombie' and 'real' do not belong in the same sentence; but I throw no stones at those who promote the concept or employ it to enhance interest in the shooting sports.
By the same token, I'll probably never shoot a .50BMG; but when somebody suggests there's no need for civilians to own them, my hackles rise.
If we do not all hang together, we shall all surely hang separately...

While I do watch the walking dead, and enjoy most horror movies, I know they are not real. Fun to think about? Sure... but real, no.
I do get a little sad seeing zombie guns and ammo, but if it helps pour money into our sport, then so be it.
If it means even 1 or 2 more people going out to a shooting match, then that is wonderful.

If you use the word zombie it is not considered hate speech, if you are preparing for zombies, you are not a shoot them all from a texas tower gun nut....if you are preparing for zombies nobody cares that you reload for nineteen obsolete calibers and have 20,000 rounds of modern ammo in the closet...
If you like zombie movies you are a nerd and not some guy who risked his life for his country and now has PTSD and is on some national watch list as a potential terrorist...

A funny:
To set this up, I just had a zombie seminar, about how to pack and use common items for emergencies but anyway, I have a zombie hunter patch and every once in awhile I wear the patch on my cool guy hat. Sometimes I wear a tattered and faded BDU shirt, they are comfy. My eldest son and I wanted to get some fried chicken so we stopped for a late lunch. At the counter was, I have to be stereotypical now, teenager, tall and thin, pimple pot marked face, took our order. He said, I like your hat. I had no idea what he was referring to but my son who is very witty, said yea, he did a zombie clinic today. The kids eyes popped out, said where and asked some questions. He got real excited. My son, this is Doc Savage a real life zombie sleuth. The kid was pinging now off the walls. My son said, last month the Doc was down is Belize where they had a chemical plant spill. Reports of a virus and zombie like encounters. Got real bad but its taken care of now. I was about to laugh but realized the kid was serious. My son stood there for a few minutes talking as I waited for our chicken.
I see the kid in the back pointing at us. Boy, what did you say to him?
I was finished and went up to get a refill. In the back was a few more, OK I have to stereotype here, young thin pimple faced kids and one elder young man. They were talking the merits and killing effects of 556 and 223 Vs various others. The first kids says, when you go after zombies, what do you like to kill and separate the head. OK, I can be witty at times, with a straight face, a snarg and walked off. My son saw him pull out his cell phone, I can only imagine that he was googling snarg.
On a serious note, the word is marketable and being this is a capitalist economy, run with it. This country needs retail sales to go up. This will hire more people, they can buy food, gas and keep the roof over their family, and pay taxes, the company pays more taxes, invests more, grows more, hires more. I for one cannot understand why anyone would discourage something like this that benefits our economy. Who cares if there are citizens running around with green painted zombie stickered guns, binos, scopes, ammo, etc, I see this as a good thing. I am not a snob for others fun time and marketing plans.

I will admit i was a fan of the whole zombie thing. i was the everything needs to be "zombie proof" but it was something I enjoy(ed).. just like the walking dead series. but now.. im just tired of it just as i am tied of seeing "tactical" infront of everything.

If you are tired of it all, you only have yourself to blame. May I recommend at least one serving a day of Cris Costa brand all black ZOMBIE shaped TACTICAL pasta.. cooked and served with olive oil and garlic.

On a more serious note, my wife does the facebook thing and reads about all the threats of riots and blood in the streets if a certain party does not get there way this election. Hope it is just a bluff. One that gets called. </div></div>

When we fall off that cliff (notice i said when not if) its gonna hurt. I don't think we will quite get to the massive apocalypse/civil war the marketing teams hope we do, but it will get ugly when all the "free" stuff goes away and China comes knocking for their money.

Was not out to turn this political. A few on this forum have pointed out that ZOMBIE is just a likely euphemism for people used to a hand out and not willing to earn there keep. Anyhow I threw in the facebook riot threats only as a plausible real life version of zombie apocalypse/ zombie civil war. I hope it is just a hot air bluff and one I would like to see called.
This does not mean I think party A will solve all our problems over party B.

Does anyone on this forum <span style="text-decoration: underline">know</span> a guy who knows a guy who has one? I figure I'll spend the $15.00 to buy a copy for my son this Christmas as he does like zombie games for the moment.
I know the zombie stuff irritates the hell out of some. But I figured if it demonstrated good weapon skills in an entertaining way what is the harm? </div></div>

I never really got it. I think the whole zombie craze is a politically correct way of referring to a fear of socio-political system failure.
The founding fathers obviously felt that themselves in their time, and I believe they established the 2nd ammendment as a check and balance against tyrannical dictatorship.
So zombie for conservatives would seem to be a reference to potential societal fracture in the same way progressive is a way that liberals like to refer to socialism without saying socialism.
That or there's a really huge crowd of zombie movie fans. I liked zombie-land as much as the next guy, but I didn't see it as a way of life so much as a funny movie.
That's my take on it.
I never really got it. I think the whole zombie craze is a politically correct way of referring to a fear of socio-political system failure.
The founding fathers obviously felt that themselves in their time, and I believe they established the 2nd ammendment as a check and balance against tyrannical dictatorship.
So zombie for conservatives would seem to be a reference to potential societal fracture in the same way progressive is a way that liberals like to refer to socialism without saying socialism.

After skip reading some of these posts I can only assume most who replied to this thread are really bored outta their gourds. What's even worse is going to the ar15 website where they treat the AR15 as some kind of Ken and Barby doll toy. Shakes head and walks off never to return to this thread...

Few weeks ago at the gun show there was a guy walking around in full tactical gear. Head to tow, looking like hes about ready to be thrown into a war zone. Looking up close, it was all zombie patches and shit.I was blown away at this guys dedication. Then at the grocery store, the 35 year old bagger/car delivery guy sees a box of shotgun shells in my truck and asks me if I was into guns (??????) then he has to go on to tell me...says he has to huury off of work to go by and get his AR lower from the ingraving shop. Said he had to get his local zombie killing crews logo put on it. These kindof people are real and owning guns. I say that I think that every goo citizen needs a gun but now I think the list might need slight trimming.

It does attract a fair amount of idiots, no doubt, but on a whole it's introduced more folks to shooting than anything I've seen in my lifetime. A small cull is hard to argue against, Mall Ninjas populations need to be kept in check!

The city not too far away from me had a zombie run a week ot two ago. People dress up as zombies a walk the run in zombie style. All I can say is "WHY"?
