Maggie’s Who is attending Shot Show 2018?

Wear VERY comfortable shoes. There is over 12 miles of isles. Bring something to carry literature.

I don't think I am going this year....

Here is the question- Do you own a SHOT business or just for fun?

If a SHOT business, have your financials with you and any bank lines of credit to work out deals at the show.

If for fun, bring cash... On the last day and sometimes earlier they have sample for sale..... Spiderco did a lot of small sales... all prices are a little bit better than Ebay / Amazon. Several holster companies have had a lot of inventory and will part with a sample of two for T+E

If you are driving, most of the steel plates/ target stands get sold for a good price as they don't want to ship them back to HQ...

Only let them scan your ID if you want a ton of follow up marketing offers... so Set up a new email address for SHOT show.

Download the app NOW....

If you find a vendor and might return, take pics of their booth and of surrounding booths and the overhead signs.....

On day 3 trying to find someone from day 1 or 2 can be insane.... look at your pictures.... oh- that's right- they were near the giant Benelli Banner

Food- all convention food sucks and is overpriced. Bring your own snacks and water bottle.

Cell Phone- while there are charging areas, bring a charger with you. A cool person would bring a brick with 3 USB ports.... So if an outlet is full, others would let you plug yours in so multiple people can plug in....

- I dont care about green- Only take literature that is not on their site. No need to take printed stuff to toss it in your room.... Take a pic of the item and another pic of their URL. When flipping through photos, you can go to their site- unless the item will not be online until months after the show.

have fun
be polite

NEVER BRING A TROLLEY TO TOW- that is as rude as all caps......... backpack is good

Concur, wear VERY comfortable shoes. I haven't been in a few years, but suffice it to say, the generally rule was:

Day 1 - Networking. Everyone is talking to old friends, and touching base with manufacturers; basically re-establishing contacts.
Day 2 - Making deals, working contract details.
Day 3 - Closing the deals, setting up follow on meetings, trips, etc.

By the end of Day 2, most people are either exhausted or severely hung over (or both). It's an interesting trade show, but if you're working a booth, it can be brutal.

I can't believe none of you mentioned the porn convention is the same week in Vegas.

It is really a grind, especially if you are working a booth which includes the setup, tear down, and 4 long days on your feet on concrete floors.

Oh, and for anyone doing video interviews with vendors or VIPs, I beg you, I implore you; PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, buy (even a cheap one) Lavalier microphone. At least one for your interviewee, if not one for each of you. I have stopped watching Shot Show videos on YouTube because the audio/interview is always tromped on by all the background noise. Lavaliers won't entirely solve that problem, but they go a long ways toward fixing it.
