Who makes LH custom action?

I'm looking into buying a custom LH action to have a custom .308 build (completed later on). I'm looking for info on who has a left hand custom action available.

I'm right-handed but left-eye dominant and currently shoot left handed (RH Rem 700's). Yep, I know lots of guys prefer the RH bolts. But considering the cash outlay involved, it just seems to make more sense to go with a LH action.

- I could use Rem 700 LH donor action and have it trued (wouldn't be a true custom) and it's tough to find a LH donor action for a reasonable price. This might not be all that cost-effective.
- I'm aware that George has the Templar (Gen 2) available as a left hand option. However, I believe George only offers barreled actions - for approx $1600
-I looked at the Surgeon website and didn't see anything re: left hand option. Approx $1300
- I know that Lawton has a 7000 LH option. Haven't seen approx cost yet.

I'm guessing that all will be 'in the white' and will need to be finished to prevent rusting (while awaiting completion).

Any others out there or thoughts you wanna share, fellas?

I'm doing a custom LH also. I just ordered from Lawton a 7000 short action on the group buy. It's a really good deal..less than 800 shipped with target knob and 20MOA steel rail included. I'd jump on that if I were you

Re: Who makes LH custom action?

Thanks again, fellas.

I looked into the Lawton 7000 today and spoke with the guys there. I'm leaning toward the Stiller TAC 30 at this point and will call SPF tomorrow morning to learn more about those.

I'm leaning TAC 30 largely due to it being stainless and it comes coated from Stiller. (the Lawton would have to be sent out to be coated right away - one more thing to have to do and an additonal expense.)

I got to chuckle a little at that one.

Orkan,

Nope, not at all. All other things being equal - If Stiller and Lawton are similar from a practical standpoint, which seems to be the consensus with the posts I've read through the Search, the Lawton will require additional work if it comes 'in the white'. I'll have to send it out to have it finished (at an additional expense). The Stiller comes stainless with the black oxide coating.

As I stated earlier, this will be for a future build. A chrome moly action is gonna need some type of coating, even if it just sits in the safe for a while. Moral of the story - if the two are comparable and close in price, the Stiller may be the better way to go.

Feel free to chuckle away.

Re: Who makes LH custom action?

Thanks for the help, guys. I ordered a TAC 30 from Curtis today.

No additional charge for left hand and it doesn't need to be sent out right away to be coated. It also didn't make sense to try and have the Lawton finished right away and then have to have the barrel and bottom metal finished later.

The plan would be to have the OD Cerakote (GA Precision?) done to barrel, action and bottom metal at the time of build.

Stiller LH: $800 + $50 for 20 MOA rail = $850.
no additional costs for LH or knob - (cost given by Curtis at Stiller)

Lawton Group buy: $695 + $40 (LH option) + $20 (target knob) + no additional cost for 20 MOA rail = $755 - (costs per phone discussion with Lawton)

Having the Lawton finished: An additional time and cost hassle.
