Why are shooters only using Wind 2 for wind speed?

As title states, why are some shooters only using WS2 (wind speed 2) on their 5700 Elites?

Example would be you capture your wind speed, and it shows as WS1 9mph and WS2 12mph. They will then "0" WS 1 and input say, 10mph wind (splitting difference) on WS 2.

Whats the purpose of this?

setting ws1 to 0 removes the kestrels correction for aerodynamic jump

Thanks! Any other tricks or tips for using a 5700? I just upgraded to an elite and have had good results so far, but I had no idea about this WS2 tip.

No need to trick the Kestrel until you find a problem. Most shooters do just fine with the standard settings. If you find a distance that is consistently off then you start researching that issue, but find the problem and measure it first.
