I have a LT158-34 QD mount from LaRue and love it, only problem is getting my Premier close enough while maintaining cheek weld on the AR-10 series PRS...

Its extended length allows for the longer charging handle throw distance, but also puts my eyes even further away from the optic. (I don't shoot NTCH) I love the adjustable cheek piece and use it. Bottom line is with optic centered between rings, the rear QD throw lever is too close to the charging handle release for my liking.

Recently I purchased an OBR mount and noticed something interesting. The lower rings are attached to the base via 2 small set screws per ring... this got me thinking. Does anybody know why LaRue went with this design? it looks like the lower rings are attached to the QD base via 2 sets of small screws per ring. instead of the rings being part of the base, much like the badger ordnance 1 piece rig. Also does anyone know why did LaRue not continue his excellent line of rings that clamped vertically rather than horizontally?

I guess I should e-mail LaRue... but in the meantime, any input???

This allows larue to make 1 base and then change out ring sizes. For example I had a 30mm , needed a 34 for the new scope. Got replacment 34mm rings from larue and switched it to 34 mm instead of having to sell the mount and get a new one. The rings are keyed to the base, not just sitting on top. It's a light press fit and then has the two screws to hold each ring to the base.

Yea, its a good buisness strat, he can run a bunch of bases and a bunch or rings and assembl in whatever configuration he needs in stock. Great mount by the way.

I have the 111 and 112 versions.
