Have a family friend that was of the same train of thought. Against guns, against the death penalty - total believer in concept of rehab.
Then one day in San Diego her niece was stepping out of the shower. A man - repeat offender / serial violent rapist - had broken in and was waiting for her.
After the murder she was ready to fry everyone on deathrow three times over.
I have always maintained that a liberal that hates guns and the right to self defense is a person that has led a charmed life - nice Mommy and Daddy, nice neighborhood, no violent experiences, and plan on the same for the rest of their life. Things can change, fast.

Many law enforcement departments have the motto"To Serve and Protect." Our local sheriff's motto is to Serve his public. As for protection, he teaches a lot of defensive gun courses, so the public can protect itself.

unfortunately my wife's cousin in new york thinks like that guy...she thinks im a wild cowboy for carrying a firearm, and she also thinks that a cop will always be there to saver her in any situation
