Just out of college my fiancé (now wife) had a job in Holtville/El Centro and I was at Davis Creek (13 miles from Oregon). Straight line 686 miles, and 808 miles by road on US-395.

My reference was the distance measurement tool in google, seems to match the distances given for the texas measurements
