Why the difference in length?

Loading my first batch of 308 rds. Using a forster micrometer seating die, I'm getting varying lengths. The range from 2.799-2.804 when I measure my loaded rounds with my calibers. Could some of this be in the slight difference in the tip of the bullets? I'm loading 175smk in front of 41.8-44.6 grns of imr 4064 for a ocw load work up.

If your base to ogive is steady your golden.
Tips can vary quit a bit.

Measure off the ogive and not the tip of the bullet.

Ok. I will have to get the ogive measurement tool.

Get the Sinclair one from Brownells. It is cheaper and more versatile than the Hornady and you don't have to dick with inserts.
