What are the alternatives to the Wilderness Instructors belt with a Ti buckle? I was looking at one locally and wanted to see what else might be out there for OTW and ITW carry before I dropped $90 on one.

Re: Wilderness TI Instructors Belt

I've never noticed the weight of my belt buckle and wouldn't bother dropping the money on the TI version. I have two 3-stitch I wore for the last 4+ years and a brand new 5-stitch. They're outstanding belts.

Re: Wilderness TI Instructors Belt

I have had the same wilderness belt for 12 years. For about half that time, I wore it 12+ hours a day when I worked pain clothes. Its the instructor belt with the plastic stiffener in it. I need to have the Velcro replaced soon, but its still going strong.

To the OP, I have two of the frequent flyer belts as well and like them. I no longer have the need for emergency rappel option(that shit hurts) and too cheap for Ti. Just be sure you get it sized correctly.

Re: Wilderness TI Instructors Belt

I have two of the Instructor belts, one with the steel buckle and one titanium, both are 1 1/2". I wear one or the other daily, and I can't really tell any difference in the weight once they are on.
Probably not worth the difference for the titanium, IMO. I have had the velcro on the one with the steel buckle and an older 1 3/4" belt replaced by Wilderness. You can't go wrong with Wilderness belts.

Re: Wilderness TI Instructors Belt

If you can still get the frequent flyer belt with the plastic rings, check that one out. I love mine. Light, doesn't scratch the heck out of your fender if you are working under the hood of your truck, but supports weight just like the others.

Re: Wilderness TI Instructors Belt

Yea another +1 for the "frequent flyer" belt. I had mine for over 7 years and use it every day for work. Great belt.

The delrin loops are strong as hell too.

Re: Wilderness TI Instructors Belt

I dig the frequent flyer belt also. I think the Delrin is a better solution unless you plan to use your belt as an emergency rappelling harness.
