Rifle Scopes Will 2012 be the year of the S&B 3-20?

Just curious if there has been any new news, as last I heard it was going to be "the first of the year." I almost put a deposit down on one in August of 2010 because "there were due to ship in a couple of weeks," but am glad I didn't.

Nonetheless I am very much looking forward to picking up one of these scopes and am hoping they are out soon. This long of a delay tells me there must have been some sort of fatal flaw in the design that they haven't been able to work out, and I am curious if anyone has heard any further.

That's a big assumption and from what I have been told incorrect. There are models out already that people have done tests on. Mike from CS Tactical did one.

I am waiting too as I actually have one on order from 2010. I would think that after SHOT some more info will be available.

So are these getting to price increase also? The 5x25 in msr is already 3200-3500 before the hike, is this going to be any lower in the price scheme?

If no flaws were present, I can't understand why they would delay this much when a shipping date was already set. That said, it could be a number of other things including parts supply or marketing.

For all we know, they are holding off until stock clears out on the 3-12 and 4-16 models, but that said, it would have been more intelligent to announce the 3-20 after that had been accomplished if that was there goal, as I imagine there are plenty of customers like myself who are waiting for the 3-20 that would have bought another model if they hadn't known about this one.

don't do it. once you try a schmidt nothing else will do. a couple years back i never envisioned myself shelling 3k plus for a piece of glass. now its become routine.

The local S&B rep here said that both the 3-20 and 1-8 had been pushed back to Sept and a 600 dollar price jump was coming across the board .

I picked up a Nightforce for my DTA, and while it is a "Grail" scope for many, owning a Schmidt and Bender makes me feel like I am slumming while using the Nightforce.

I have a 3-20 on order, straight from S&B, and was oringally told Dec/Jan. Hopefully that holds true.

I have nothing to back this up, but I had heard the delay was due to filling (German?) military orders.

Just a rumor so who knows.

I have one ordered (and paid) and I would be surprised if we don't see them in the first qtr of 2012. That is based purely on the info from the hide and the vendor. Let's hope the wait is worth it!

I think the 2012 sheets are out and once they come down the line that number might be adjusted... if it hasn't shipped I am not sure a price can be honored

No clue, but Randy from MHSA just posted the 5-25x is going to $3499 so I think pretty much asap. Especially considering nobody has gotten a shipment in some time.

My understanding on the 3-20x is dealer cost is more than $3200 so if nobody has them, and nothing is set from previous years, that could very well mean when they ship they will ship at the new price.

Like hoping the scopes were gonna ship in April, Sept, Oct, etc in 2011, the hope for the $3200 price could have came and went in the same fashion.

I could be wrong and the dealers will certainly know more than I am, but whispers on the wind point to immediate increases.
