Gunsmithing Will paint affect tolerances in a bedded action?

Got a quick question here we were debating at work today.

Say you got an already bedded action. Will painting the entire action greatly effect the tight tolerance between the action and the bedding compound (assuming one uses a reasonable number of coats and doesn't build up an obscene layer of paint)?

It makes it tight, but it has not had any negative affects so far.

Plenty of rifle builders paint the barreled action as the last step, which makes it after bedding. It'll be fine.
