THE RECAP - V BUCCANEERS 27, SAINTS 23
December 03, 2007|By Chris Harry, Sentinel Staff Writer
*OVERVIEW: Tampa Bay backup QB Luke McCown passed for a career-high 313 yards and two touchdowns, the second a 4-yard dart to TE Jerramy Stevens with 14 seconds to play to push the Buccaneers to a stunning 27-23 road victory against New Orleans. The win gave the Bucs a three-game lead in the NFC South Division and the tiebreaker against the second-place Saints by virtue of a season sweep.
<span style="font-size: 17pt"><span style="color: #000099">*TURNING POINT: With his team leading 23-20 and just 3:36 to go, Saints Coach Sean Payton called a double-reverse pitch play deep on a second-and-10 from his 49. RB Reggie Bush's poor toss resulted in a fumble that was recovered by Bucs DT Jovan Haye at the Saints' 37. Tampa Bay scored the game-winning touchdown eight plays later.

*UNSUNG HEROES: The right side of the Bucs' offensive line, manned by G Davin Joseph and T Jeremy Trueblood, helped clear the path on the 2-yard run by Earnest Graham on fourth-and-1 that kept alive the decisive drive.
