Sorry for the 'noob question and I apologize if this breaks forum etiquette.
Will this barrelled action, listed in the for sale section, drop right into a HTG or similar McMillan stock for short-action R700 .308?

Obe 5R M40 contour action

If so, is this a DIY job?

The seller was ok with me posted a question here about it.
thanks in advance for your time!

As long as the barrel channel is large enough. A lot of the "in stock" ones are varmint contour barrel channels, you'll need a M40/MTU or something around #7.

You can buy one and likely send it back to McMillan to be opened up. Call them to confirm and check pricing. Or check JW Precision for the cost of one with an already larger channel. Or...find a used one in the for sale section.

Oh, duh, yes if you order one then it will work too. I'm too impatient to order stuff

wow, that was fast...
take out the garbage, come back, have answer.
thanks guys!

McM is just down the road from me. Wonder if they could bed it.
Is the bed a possible DIY? I work on my 1911s a fair amount but never had a bolt gun.

Their website says the HTG will take up to a #8 barrel. So I'm guessing it's good to go.
cheers.
