Just a note re the NM rifle in this post, and weight differences among the 3 flavors of M70s from the early 1950s:

National Match configuration (standard weight 24" barrel w/ Marksman stock) = 9.5 lbs
Match Rifle configuration (medium-heavy 24" barrel w/ Marksman stock) = 10.5 lbs
Bull Rifle configuration (heavy bull profile 28" barrel w/ Marksman stock) = 13.75 lbs

My guess /understanding is the NRA High Power rifle rules from the early 1950s had a 10.0 lb maximum weight - hence the configuration of the NM rifle in this post.
Not sure when the rules changed re weight limits, but just an fyi observation about the unique NM M70s from that era...

On EDIT: Not my rifle, but attached is what was described as a 1950 National Match M70. Note the sight blocks, etc.

Is that the Target or the Bull Gun?
I personally have a 1955 Bull Gun in .300 H&H

Original 56 target. AMU bisonite bedded. Only one I have left with original barrel.

Others now wear #7 Douglas XX Premium air gauges. Changed out when the originals had as much as 12" free bore, but still shot moa. Was good enough back then on those fat targets to run expert/low master.

Mine is a '06 Target made in 1957.
It's U.S. Property marked and bisonite bedded also.
Appearantly the QC inspector at Winchester wasnt on his toes the day this one was made because if the factory holes in the barrel are used the scope block will end up canted to the left pretty bad. Theres an extra set of holes to correct the problem but I have no idea when, where or by whom they were done.
