WOA SPR 1/8 - 77gr Razorcore?

Anybody having good luck shooting 77gr ammo (IMI Razorcore in this case) through a WOA SPR with a 1/8 twist?

I have had mine out only a couple times since buying it during the last pirate sale. The 77gr isn’t really setting the world on fire in this rifle, it’s 1.5MOA+.

I’m thinking that I need to try 69 or 68 loads, looking at either IMI or Frontier to try.

Anyway, just curious if any advice or feedback, maybe the slower twist I shot myself in the foot for the heavier loads?

I’m running a 1/7 twist. I’m getting sub MOA groups. IMI 77gr Razor ammo is my favorite.

I don’t have specific guidance on your barrel, but I have generally not seen the Razorcore to be especially accurate in any gun. 1-1.5” at 100m on a good day. Better luck in my circles with CBC /Magtech and Black Hills. Good luck.

Last time out my gasser shot that stuff about ~1-1.2 MOA at 100 yards. Have you tried other 77 grain ammunition?

They do ok in my 1:8 twist Rainier. Fired in around 7 minutes using a bipod and small rear bag. Nowhere near what my handloads do, but it’s cheap and good for banging steel.

I’d stay away from frontier and try the ADI 69 gr. Shot them just before the IMI. It’s more precise in my rifles at 100yds, but the top left group demonstrates the variation in different lots. High rounds were the first from the magazine. Pretty consistent with that mag.

It’s not the best, but it’s been sub moa from 2 18” Rainier Ultramatch barrels and a 16” and 18” Rainier match barrels. The Magtech was about the same, maybe a touch better, but not much. I only tried 1 box, so I may need to get some more to try.

Out of my 20" Rainier Ultramatch, it normally shoots 3/4 groups at 100, and hits small steel nicely out to 600 yards. The best groups I've had are 1/2", but that's on a really good day. Magtech shoots good too.

Definitely needs to test more loads. Black Hills, Stillwood, Creedmore, Atlanta Arms, they all load the 77gr TMK if you want something like that.

I have a 16” WOA 1-7 barrel and it really likes the CBC/Magtech OTM 77 SMK load! I would definitely try some different 77 grain stuff before you write off that bullet weight. There’s a lot of great options out there.

77gr OTM Razorcore shoots 0.5moa to 500yds and has no problem consistently hitting a 6" plate at 800yds out of my 16: WOA 1/7 and 2 friends that run the exact same barrel.

I dont shoot factory ammo but they handed me 2 boxes one day st the range to test. Shot a 2.2" five shot group at 500yd then banged an 6" steel plate at 800yd consistently. They buy it by the case and it shoots group for them as well.

I have a Rainier 1/8 20" that shoots 77gr smk and 73 eld 0.5moa.

24.0-24.2 g of Varget under Sierra 77SMK generally shoots into 3/8" or less with every WOA barrel I've tried. Sometime a lot less.

77SMK in my 1"8 WOA got a 0.454 5-shot group with 22.6 gr XBR. And a 4-shot 0.461 4-shot group with 22.8 gr XBR that opened up to 0.982 with the 5th shot.


Not always repeatable, but most of the error was due to the nut behind the bolt.

77gr. IMI shoots as well in my WOA 1:7 as my own 8208xbr loads. I also shoot it out of a 20" RRA 1:8, which is also a Wilson Arms blank just like WOA but it doesn't shoot it quite as well. My avg. in that 20" was 2864 for 20 shots on the Magnetospeed's first outing.

IMI Razorcore shot great out of my 18” Rainier Ultramatch barrel, and shoots decent out of my 14.5” Rainier Match barrel. In a few days I’ll be able to see how it shoots in a 16” Nordic 223 wylde barrel and a 10.5” BA barrel....
