When a PD hunt w/ another hide member fell through today I decided to seek out some on my own. I've never actually shot PDs before today, and I must say that it was fun, especially when they blow up. I was shooting my 700 in 308 in a MP chassis, Nikon BM, using 168 smk in my handloads. I would like to get some v-max for next time.
So i was headed out of town passing the range when I saw a coworker there, so I stopped and verified zero while i pumped him for his PD knowledge. He pointed me towards two locations of possible insurgent PD activity. I proceeded to the first location and only found one. I popped him on the head offhand at 50yds.

He said the first location was pretty sparse, and i agreed after only finding one, so i moved on and found quite a town, spent a couple hours there and expended about 60 rnds over a couple hours. What I noticed due to the lay of the land, grass, and etc was that i had a hard time finding a propper firing position. I was basically parked in the middle of the town and most shots were 100 yrds never being over 300. I used the pickup as a rest. I shot off the hood a lot, used the mirrors and windowsils as rests, and sometimes prone. I had a good time.

    Re: Wyoming Drive-by

I shot PD's last year and had a blast! My son and I fired about 700 rounds in one day. We quit when my eyes could no longer focus looking thru the scope. I need to go back. That was the most legal fun I think you can have. It makes excellent long range firing.
