Finally got to take the new rifle out for a shoot on weekend and im a bit worried about the accuracy. Its had about 60 rounds fired now and started out with 5 groups of 5 shots all Sub MOA at 100 yards, Then everything after about 30 shots the groups are all over the page. I am cleaning after 5 shots and broke it in properly.

Does anyone have any ideas on why the shots are all over the place...scope doesnt seem to be moving. Does it need a few more shots before its broken in maybe??

Has a Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm LR/T M1 TMR
La Rue Tactical picatinny and Quick release rings

Stop Cleaning it. I have about 3k rounds on my XCR LR at this point and its very pointless to clean it. I am down to cleaning it in no less than 300 rounds.

Define all over the place. If it went from shooting 1" or below to allot worse then most likely something is loose. I would take it all apart and check it out. Just because the scope doesnt seem to be moving doesnt mean its not. Did you bed the rail when installed? Check the torque of the action screws also.

Do a once over and re-tighten everything. The main thing that sticks out to me is the QD rings even if they are good quality, that is still a higher probability or potential for something to go wrong. Next I would say make sure you are using quality ammo if not hand-loaded. If it is hand-loaded, hope you are using quality components. I dont mean to offend you with this last part, but are you making sure you are applying the fundamentals and are you using a rear bag? If you are then I'm sorry I pissed you off. If all those things are in place and shooting conditions are decent and it still doesn't group then it's the gun and you will probably need to take it to a gunsmith. I clean every 25- 75 rounds so try a different cleaning schedule. best of luck to you and I like the rig.

Thanks for the replys, i will give it the once over tonight and make sure its all tight again. I am using federal P308TT2 308 Win 165-gr Trophy Tip and Remington core-lokt 150-gr and both were from the same batch.
See How i go tomorrow if not might take it to a gun smith.

Not really hot at all as i was shooting 5 shot groups then stopping to clean.

I am far from an expert but from what I have found you should stop cleaning it. Let it settle in and then it should be good for a few hundred rounds before groups start to open up.

1shot2kll, not a stupid Q, my sr25's groups open up when hot, but i think the barrel is almost gone, which would not be this case...
unless you are absolutely set on that ammo, I'd try some other stuff, it may like it better, and yes def. don't keep cleaning every 5 rnds.
i am also with hewlett on the qd rings, i've had a larue spr' on my schmidt, and will never use it again.

I have had mine hot enough to cook eggs on here before while shooting. Seems to not have much effect on it at all.

QD mount could be giving you crap.

One thing I do see is using hunting loads. Scrap that and get some decent ammo if your lookin for better accuracy. Mine shoots Fed 168 SMK's ok but is a superstar with 175 factory or reloads.

agreed on the ammo- get some federal gold medal match,(gmm- 175 smk's) and watch your groups shrink.

Went to the gun smith and he says the gun is perfect so the problem is with either the scope or rings. I have bedded the rail and I have tried 168 SMK's and not much better.

Is there anyway to test if there is a problem with the internals of the scope before i send it away. They reckon its gonna be a 2 month turn around so i wanna be sure before i send it.Its a brand new Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm LR/T M1 TMR.

Anyone have an opinion on swapping the LaRue QD rings for BURRIS XTR Xtreme Tactical 30MM Rings.

My vote is to stop cleaning, shoot about 20 shots of whatever you have, to get the barrel to settle in. Next I would try some 168 Sierra matchkings.
If you still have problems check the tension on your action screws, while you are there make sure nothing is binding.
I bought a used rifle from someone and they didn't inlet the stock enough for a Jewell trigger, and it was causing binding an accuracy issues.

I also had problems with a LaRue quick release mount. Just did not give me nearly the accuracy I got from a regular mount and had a tendency to come loose. Try another set of rings and see what happens.

Like said above, shoot premium ammo and stop cleaning it.

I'll bet it's not bedded. It's not uncommon for the recoil lug to float in front of the chassis in an AICS.

Well finally sorted the problem thanks to everyones help, and it actually turned out to be the QD Rings. Took them back and Swapped them out for another pair and is now back to shooting like a dream.

Also tried out some Federal Law Enforcement 130gr Speer TNT Tactical TRU.
Its was raining aswell so i didnt go change the target, Did 1 sight in then a 12 shot group.
