I am looking at getting a trigger job done on my XDm 40S&W 4.5" and was hoping to get a few experienced opinions before I make a decision. I am seriously looking at Springer Precision but Powder River doesn't seem bad either. Does anyone have either of these jobs on their XDm? Are there better options out there? I am finding that the stock trigger pull is far too long, with a heavy back wall that sneaks up on you. This makes quick shots inaccurate as the pull goes through different stages: long easy take-up, sudden heavy stop, and plenty of over-travel as the gun goes off. I don't have any problems when I have 5 seconds to make an accurate shot but I am worried about the time that I won't have 5 seconds. Thanks.

My son and I both recently installed the PRP Ultimate match trigger kit in our XDM's. We couldn't be happier. I've shot about 350 rounds with it and it functioned flawlessly.
Fitting the kit was easy. Watch the video, go slow and check the fitting of the parts frequently. I believe it took roughly an hour for the initial fitting. After installing the kit I placed the gun in the freezer for several hours to make sure nothing would change do to contraction. (I live in MN and I'm not afraid to shoot in the middle of winter.) The over travel stop needed to be adjusted some more. After several repeats of sanding the over travel stop and refreezing all worked well.
I wish I would have done this much sooner. I was thinking about selling the gun due to the fact that I couldn't get used to the trigger, but not any more. This is a keeper.

My hometown is Eagan and now I live 5 miles from the Canadian border. HELL YEAH IT GETS COLD IN MN! Not lately tho. The snow was melting up here today.

I had a Springfield 45 non-xdm but I sent it to Springer Precision for their combat carry trigger job, TruGlo TFO sights, extended mag release and the internals cleaned up along with the feed ramp polished. It was a much nicer gun after the work. The trigger was really nice and I def enjoyed it......till I sold it to my buddy for a Sig 220combat. Send that XDm to Springer for some work you will be very happy.

308and300wbymag, I choose the ultimate since it came with the sere which gives a more crisp trigger. I also thought the drop in kit would give less of an improvement since it would have to be made to "just drop" in.

Powder River Precision worked on mine a few years back. It was too awesome. I highly recommend PRP.

Wow! I'm really glad you posted that! I had just put the drop in kit in my XD, sanded the trigger down till it fired and called it good! Tossed it in the freezer this morning after reading your post and sure as shit...didn't shoot! So I froze it for a while and repeated the process till it fired frozen!

Yeah, I got the drop in, and I'm thinking about ordering the sear because the trigger feels kinda mushy without it. I want a crisp break.

I have been throwing around possibly doing this to my XD 45 and upgrading my sites. I hate the trigger pull, it is super long and heavy. I am leaning toward the DIY PRP kit.

I had a PRP kit in mine and I loved it. I have since sold the XDm but that trigger was night and day from the stock pull. Accuracy improved immediately.
