Yellowstone...New activity, so how soon?

Earliest it will happen is tomorrow.

Mount St. Helens was the geologic equivalent of a champagne cork popping off.

Vesuvius (actually its neighbor under Naples Bay) would be a really nice 20 lb Tannerite blast. Lots of dead Italians, but probably a net positive for the EU balance of trade. Good TV. They'd do "Hands Across America" or "FarmAid" or something again.

Yellowstone or one of the big African caldera's would be a slate wiper. Not a lot of initial deaths. But probably 3 - 4+ billion over 10 years when you consider America is the world's breadbasket. And everyone on the planet will be reduced to eating bark, shellfish and worms for at least 4 generations... yeah. It would be bad.

And it will happen. But in our near future? Meh, who knows. Humankind has lived in a real 'Goldilocks' zone of planetary evolution. We have a very, very mild planet and climate, etc. right now. We are lucky as all hell.

We will see another ice age soon. A supervolcano or three. A meteor impact. A pole shift. A Cascadia Tsunami. And a local supernova that gamma's us out of existance isn't out of the realm, either.

20K - 100K years is a blip in geologic time. Homo Erectus has been really lucky... right place, right time. Good planetary alignment. Damn lucky.

That luck will run out. It won't be stupid socialist climate Change Hoax. It will be the Universe swatting us like an insect. If we are lucky, we are going to be ready to move off-planet. But that will take a couple of centuries at best. IF we can marshal the resources to do it, instead of spending it on free cheese and socialism.

My bet is that the race is extinct in 5,000 years. To be replaced by an ascendant race of cockroaches, squirrels and probably lawyers. Can't get rid of any of them.

Hmmm, what kind of bark?

Agreed.
PLEASE choose Texas instead of Idaho. It's a MUCH larger state with MUCH more room for the influx of the leftist idiots.
Idaho has a state income tax, Texas don't.
Texas has a Mayo Clinic, Idaho don't.
It gets real cold in Idaho and our summers are hot as fuck. Texas generally doesn't have cold weather and when it does, it don't last long.
Texas women are the talk of the Union. Not Idaho's.
Texas has professional sports teams, as in multiple. Idaho has none.
There are no Central Markets in Idaho.
Texas is the place you want to be.
Don’t listen to this guy! Idaho is great year round!

No, it's not.
I'm sure your nose just grew like 2 feet.
Texas, on the other hand, is prime real estate with fantabulous weather and great beaches.
Let’s just mutually agree to send all these people to Mexico or China or Venezuela

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was about the only show on TV worth watching!!

So how many cans of spam do I need to survive the "Yellowstone Winter". They're still working on my underground bunker in New Zealand, it won't be completed for weeks.

Get the bacon spam. It has to be sliced very thin and fried crispy.

I usually cook up a spam sandwich about once a year. They're good for a once in a great while something different sort of thing.

If there was a 7.3 earth quake it would be major news.

Look at the data yourself:

Yellowstone is Business as Usual. All Hype. No Boom
I'm going to do an MSM style retraction in small print. I found that in one of the above videos; what can I say I like to get excited over the smallest events. I reviewed a couple legit seismic sites as above, and the close I could see was a graph that showed "cumulative magnitude" whatever that is that went to 7.1/7.2 on March 31. There where a couple on the legit sites that went up to 3.0. It looks like Salt Lake City Utah has been having more earthquakes than Yellowstone.
