TEXAS (WABC) -- A quick-thinking police officer's split-second decision may have saved a woman's life, and it was all caught on video.

The Lubbock, Texas, officer was investigating an accident when an out-of-control driver hit his police cruiser.

The impact was caught by the officer's DashCam.

The officer pushed a woman involved in the first accident out of the way.

The driver that hit the police car was charged with drinking and driving.

I was a bit surprised at the lack of comment as well. I just wanted to be fair. In every instance there are the good, and the bad. Both deserve recognition.

Surly you guys can find something the cop did wrong.
It didn't look like he had his flashing lights on. That's pretty bone head move to park his car in a travel lane without lights.

They were probably doing some DWI check point and the offending driver just didn't want his rights violated.

Come on people, get it together.

"she was in his way and pushed her to save his own ass", JK, I would have done the same, good reflexes good job.
most cops are good guys dealing with the crappiest people day in day out.

Not one wearing a hat. Looked like he attacked the poor lady, and then the car crashed coincidentally at the same time. This is a thinly disguised attack on a poor citizen they were sworn to protect.

I bet this was a form 4 checkpoint anyway, and they had no jurisdiction to ask for papers.

Re: Yep, its another cop thread

Pure profiling by the cop...There is NO justification for assaulting a citizen like that. He should be charged, period. If he hadn't left his blinky lights on the other driver would not have been distracted and run into his car anyhow.

    ps he was parked illegally.

    Nuff Said

Thats true about the driver. Not trying to be a smart ass, but police usually don't do DWI check points. Police usually do DL check points.

WTF??? Not that I am complaining...But while you dont go out of your way to start the average Snipershide cop thread (and by average, I mean some keyboard commando looking for attention with an ax to grind on LEOs) but you really stepped out of character on this one. Good post though.

I am really amused that a thread like this really does show the true colors of other members. I am not gonna mention Ch'e, DaveD, HeathenRiflemen, or Opshin556, but if this were one of the 'other' kinds of cop posts, you know, to "keep members informed" (I never get tired of that one), you could be damned sure they, and a few others, would have a go at it.
