I posted this on another board but never got the sort of response I was looking for:

Just completed my ar build and took her out to the range, currently running a Vortex sparc RDS which I intend to keep for 50 yard and CQB style shooting. Now I am in the market for a scope which will be used for 80% 100yd shooting and 20% 200yd shooting. I will be shooting on paper and looking for maximum precision (ie skill limited vs scope limited) So in a perfect world would love to be able to drive bullseye tacks at 100yds when my skills improve. Based on my cursory research I would need at least 9x magnification in order to have the vision to see bullet holes. I would love to go to 12x-14x for max precision but am concerned that the size of the scope would overwhelm the AR...

My budget is up to $400 and I am open to going used to make that happen..

thoughts are greatly appreciated
