Yet More Commie Legislation: Feel the $15/hr Bern

good, i hope it passes.

theyll replace all the fucking mongoloids with automated kiosks......then maybe ill have a chance at getting my coffee order correct.

these idiots dont realize we are in the age where automation is becoming more and more affordable......and they are going to price themselves out of a job because they feel they deserve $15/hr to pour coffee and flip burgers.

Sorry but this is their intent.
Put all those "would you like to supersize that" fully on the public tit.
Generate more handout voters in kind.
Yay team blue...

What? So your dream vocation wasn't to flip burgers your whole life? Got to make it rain somehow.

Double edged sword, or battle-axe, more like. When those people petitioned for the raise in the last couple of years all over the country, only a few realized that companies can kick right back by............Cutting hours.

There are a lot of big box retailers like Woolworth's (Foot Locker, Foot Action etc.) that operate purely on a majority crew of part-time employees. Only full-time workers are ASM's, GM's(obviously) and cashier shift leaders. Everybody else have 28 hours or less. Even the LP teams are part time guards who rotate between stores in a given district.

More and more chain outlets are going to adopt this approach with the passing of minimum wage laws and they are not violating anything, so they could not get sued.

AMEN!! Increasing the minimum wage will work for the federal gov't like it has everywhere else. If they are not worth $15 today, they won't be worth $15 when the law passes. Ditch them and replace them with automation. MAGA!

Saw a commercial for a 60-minutes type show the other day talking about how in 20 years or so, AI will replace 40% of the workforce. Holy shit!

Be smart. Be VERY smart...The time to invest in all education tech-related is NOW. Just had this same conversation with coworkers a couple of days ago. The arrival / dominance of AI products in daily life means that a shitload of folks are going to be needed to service, troubleshoot, maintain and repair those devices when they start malfunctioning, and trust me, these devices are going to malfunction quite a lot. Updates not sync'ing, bugs of every kind, viruses, and people who don't know what they are doing trying to install them. Take tech courses now. If your current job offers them or recommends them, do it. And familiarize yourself with driving Ford Transits and Mercedes Sprinters in the meantime.

The number of people needed to maintain/repair AI and Robotics will be dwarfed by the number of people displaced by this technology. I work in this field and have been here for 40 years now nearing retirement. It's way past time to get used to people not having jobs. Need to rethink the whole concept of "no workie - no eatie" because even folks who feel they cannot be replaced will be replaced with machines controlled by AI. Surgeons, pilots, fast food burger flippers, even dry wallers to soon be replaced with machines. Self driving vehicles and delivery trucks....internet purchases delivered by drone. It's happening now and not going away.

I was a displaced technology worker in 2000 but moved to different technology. My point is that from this day forward there will not be "more" jobs - only less jobs with lower wages as folks fight to have a job and work for less to get the job. Shit's gonna change a lot in the next 30 - 40 years. No workie = no eatie *will* impact yer kids and their kids. Need to be careful about how we provide incentives for people to contribute to Society. Jobs are going to be increasingly hard to come by.

The only ones to benefit from AI in general is a very small percentage at the top.
Who do you think is funding/driving the idea?

Bernie's just grandstanding for a 2020 run......................................he knows there is no way the Fed Min Wage will be raised to $15 any time soon. Besides, he's rich...........................$15 for a Big Mac.................no problem.

Yes,,,,,,fuck the little people that actually need work.

If no one is working how are they buying shit that robots make.

Govt provided incomes have no real economic value unless he majority is working to provide them incomes.

So, we think it's gonna go away or that people will eventually "wise up" and the move towards higher technology, robotics, AI, and all that will stop as soon as people come to their senses and realize that there is no benefit to working class people?

It's gonna stop and go back eventually, right?

Nope China will automate and not care about its masses and we will gobble up the cheap robot made shit at Walmart.

And than we eventully have a war or pandemic that wipes out all the excess population and we will be left with some gross mechanical world of weird humans serviced by robots.

Screw that, i'm buying up cannabis stocks, millions of unemployed losers are going to make me rich with their welfare or parents money. Already made more than anything else I've ever invested in, and the tidal wave hasn't even hit yet. Think national legalization and increased federal minimum wages leading to workforce downsizing (it's going to pass eventually, just a matter of time) = pot tsunami.

YES YES YES. Fuck it, just go for the stratosphere. Make it a $100/hr minimum. I would emphatically support that. And I think people should be able to use their SNAP cards in the below readers.
