Not with that population they won't.
1.4 vs 1.3 billion folks for China vs India, not sure the population makes much difference on this one. The industry differences, dominate political parties, fertility rates, and caste system could all play unexpected havoc in a conflict for both sides.

This is interesting. Who has more nukes? They both use Russian equipment under license with India having some western stuff. So they both know strengths And weakness. That said is Chinese stealth available for combat yet?

The worst part would be the fallout we’d get should someone get stupid. It’d be real interesting to know how much China is influencing Pakistan too. India then has a problem on northwest and east.

Paksitan and by extension Saudi would be a problem for China given the Chinese fear of organized religion. If China were to war with India it would be a bad day for us. Who the hell do you think makes most of our medicine....?

interesting times...

China is quasi allied with Pakistan . They have even supported some minor border conflicts between India and Pakistan . If this goes hot I don't see us sittinv this one out .

What's even more interesting is that both sides have a large surplus of military-age males, and at least one side might be thinking that throwing a few million of them into the meat grinder would help reduce a future problem.

They already have plenty who want to fight their own government at home...
Covid only really reduced the aged population.

Less than 10% of the Chinese are Chicom party members. The commies could end up with nukes from the front and swords and pitchforks from the rear.

Modi and Trump seem to have a pretty good relationship.

Kind of odd. I could see Trump getting along with him as he is an animal that sees people and only looks for "How can I work with this guy to make my position better and if he gets something out of it great!".

I think Modi knows his only chance of maintaining his worlds largest democracy is the backing of the US.

The root of the problem has been ever thinking oil and water could combine without violent agitation.

There is no benign Communism or "Communist Capitalism"

At some point in time one must consume the other.

china would go through them like a hot knife through butter.

but if anything would start up it would be in the highlands of that disputed land.

that would make china's huge # superiority of armor a little more even.

india has a had a few skirmishes with pakisatan so there might be a battlefield knowledge gap in the beginning but we all know that china doesnt care about casualties.

it would be a air superiority battle in which india would loose pretty quick

a few months a peace will be brokered

to bad, would be nice to let china spend some money on wasteful war instead of focusing all their resources on the US for a change.

it a lot harder to fund state subsidized factories when your pouring billions into the battle field

If left to fend for their self's maybe,...however depending who else shows up for the game, all that may be in doubt. Never underestimate the power of money, or pay back. Pay back entry,... has changed many a "slam dunk" operation,...

Having worked in that area, no. India has a far superior resupply capabilty. Have a look on on your favourite satellite map at the potential air and land routes. I doubt it will escalate beyond China doing its usual dog finding a hole in the fence routine. China has more air assets on paper, but Mig 19’s and 21’s ? Hmmm. The few strips they have in Tibet don’t have many hardened bunkers, and once those strips are cratered, then it’s a long haul from other bases. Ground wise, India has a way more motivated and better trained bunch of grunts, and a lot of very mobile self propelled arty.

Last time Pakistan got a bit spicy in Kashmir, there was no US support, other than switching off gps in the area (yeah thanks for that....) Fortunately things have changed for the better in that regard lately.

Exactly. This isn't the CCP and India's first rodeo in that area. IIRC they're each 1 for 1 in skirmishes in that region.
