Your results with .223 ammo the cheap shit

A friend of mine had an AR upper that seemed to always shoot one hole groups with 55 grain ball.
It was a 16" heavy bull barrel in one of those old rectangular free float tubes, I think a Badger or something. No one knew who built it or made the barrel because he got it on trade but at 100 yards, it was the best I've ever seen, especially considering the cheap ammo it was shooting.

I have not yet found one that arrives at the confluence of "bulk/cheap" and accurate. I started a thread on my search for "better" .223 ammo last week. I concluded I was going to need to spend more than $.26/shot or start reloading.
I bought a Savage 110 Varmint a while back that hovers around 1 MOA with Lake City 55 gr. ball.
It's a great inexpensive option for pest control. It shoots 55 gr. Nosler ballistic tips into one hole.

My shooting Buddy has a 24" AR Stoner Wylde barrel that is a tack driver with American Eagle 55gr FMJBT.

I converted my AX to 223, it shoots XM855a1 just a tad over 1” consistently. I’m using a 26” 1:7 Bartlein barrel. I tried that Remington white box crap, it shot it just under 1”.
PMC was a tad better but nothing spectacular, it was a solid 1” group
handloads or any match ammo it hammers, easy under 3/4”
