Zastava MP22

Re: Zastava MP22

originally styled after a cz ( actually zastavia was originally called a CZ Crvena Zastava and made in serbia / yugoslavia.....HMMMM and that rifle a originally known as Z5 and a CZ99) , it went through a few more changes to get it's look as in the photo.

Zastava went out of business, got bought by charles daly (rifle was then called the Charles Daly Superior). then remington bought the rights to the rifle and called it the model 5. then remington (for whatever reason) stopped making the model 5. i believe when the model 5 came out, they were selling them at cabelas for around 200.00 which was a pretty good deal, i still regret not getting one.

i've shot them, they are quite accurate and has a "big gun" feel & look to them. the trigger is really nice, i don't know if that was a remington add on, or zastava has them on theirs.

i'm not sure but i think remington has reduced the model 5 to this http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/compact/rimfire/model-five-compact.aspx

from the remington "archive"
http://www.remington.com/products/archived/rimfire/bolt-action/model-five.aspx

you may want to look into USSG / EEA corp, they may be doing something with them know. every place i look has them "out of stock", but priced at around 250.00.

it's a real shame that this rifle got tossed around, it handled and shot well. but for 339.00 listed on your link, and no significant reason to believe it will ever exist again, i think the 339.00 could be wiser spent elsewhere. if it had more support from whomever is or IF manufacturing it currently, maybe 339 wouldn't be all that bad, as it's a heck of a rifle.

Re: Zastava MP22

I bought a Remington Model Five when Academy had them priced at $179...my only regret is not buying several of them at the same time. They have a reputation for being excellent shooters, mine is no different.
