My wife has had this fear of microplastics killing us for years now, switched to glass water bottles and glass food storage containers, but we still use plastic bags to store some foods.

Not sure you can escape micro plastic death if you buy food in a store.

A few weeks ago an article said that scientists were puzzled by the presence of microplastics in a 10,000 year old ice core.

That's the thing - microplastics are apparently showing up in areas where they shouldn't - at least not if your hypothesis is that they are a relatively new thing to the world.

I haven't followed the microplastics thing closely, but I do agree with the general theme that we are self destructing species. Though I think risky GoF virus research and nuclear war are bigger threats than microplastics.
