No real reviews exist of the AMG 1-10, despite it being a "high profile" optic, and very available. Like Dave Chappell says, maybe people are supporting it with their silence.

Ive shot plenty of deer with 5.56 from short guns. It works just fine. I use browntip, mk318, etc. Mk262 is peak GWOT, but in the hunting world its a paper puncher bullet and Id not recommend it for hunting.

Exactly this. Different thread sizes, pitches, ano finishes, etc. will influence compression vs. friction (which is what torque wrenches actually measure).

Nightforce was originally 15 in-lb, but they upped it to 25 in-lb because people often called in asking "Is 15 enough for my such and such...?"

I called NF and they said if tightened properly, it would stay PUT. They recommended rubber gloves, but also said a strap wrench if used intelligently would be fine.

I used a narrow strap wrench that interacted with only the lock ring, and held the occular. I didn't get stupid, I just snugged it. I'd say it moved 1-1.5mm more than I got it by hand. I went and dumped 60rds through the gun doing up-drills and it didn't budge.

It's pretty common, from what I gather. All of mine have done it, at least.

Yeah, 77TMK/OTM that frags will do wonders. To me, dead is dead, and the wounding I get from 70gr TSX is more than sufficient. Couple that with it shooting 1.5-1.8moa out of my guns, I tend to like it. It clocks 2545fps out of my 11.5.

I typically find that deer I shoot with a 5.56 either drop like a sack of bricks, or run 75-125m, depending on the terrain. Open ground, about 125m. They drop if the bullet passes anywhere near the spine. They run if lung/heart shot.

I typically hunt deer with my 5.56 SBR.
