Carbon Barrel for Mk22

Anyone try a carbon barrel on their MRAD or Mk22?

What kind of weight savings did you see?

I have a MK22 and am contemplating using it on an elk hunt next year but she is a heavy girl to lug around the mountains of Wyoming. Thinking of getting a Proof barrel in 300 PRC to help with the weight as opposed to building a dedicated hunting rig.

Are you talking about a Barrett MRAD (MK22)? I'd think that's heavy enough that the carbon fiber barrel's weight savings would be a "rounding error" on the total weight. Can't imagine humping that beast through the forest ... but to each his own. I use mine for bench and prone competitions only ... I have enough trouble carrying it from the truck, to the firing line.
