That’s a great rifle. I’d go put it through the paces as is.

My PMclaine rifle is coming along. It's a prewar in a post war stock.
It's going in a prewar stock.
Also have it fitted in a heavy marksman stock.

The prewar stock is in hand now, just not at the gunsmiths yet.

The scope mounts have been added, just no pic yet.

No, you won't be happy until you have one.

i did try a 168 with 4064 started at 45 grs i believe the scope came loose that ended my only range day. i have anther Unertl in 15x i tried on it and i couldn't get it to focus need to find some one to look at or fix it its like the objective is not moving. the one on it is a 12x i took it off my my 220 swift target as its been a slow start with this rifle.

if you would pm me his name as i am going to have one built when i find a donner gun.

Those aggravating days are hard to smile at.

I put a 6.5-20 leupold on mine working up loads, then go to the Unertl.

thats a good idea i have done that with other rifles the scope i always used ended up on a rifle and never took it off.

Decided to leave the target one alone, picked this one up today 1955 birth date it’s not clip slotted that’s not a big deal Smith can do that now I need to find a barrel and the project begins. This sure is getting expensive.
