I took my mk12 out today for the first time. I had my smith install an AAC break on it and use rockset. He said he shimmed it up and used two drops of rockset then torqued it with 30 pounds of pressure. After approximately 60 shots my break was spinning off. Anyone know of a cause? Is rockset not that great? 30 pounds not enough? or was the job just shitty?

Re: Rockset or gunsmith fail?

The torque sounds about right, and a couple drops of Rocksett on the threads should be sufficient. I wonder if the threads were cleaned before applying Rocksett and assembling?

Re: Rockset or gunsmith fail?

I am kind of curious as to how long after the smith finished the job did you take the rifle out and shoot it. I normally let it set on the rifle a couple of days before I take it out.

Dont know about cleaning, and It was over a week before I shot it.
