A newb pulling up a dead thread, again.......who woulda thunk it ?

Well not all bad, I enjoyed seeing the dolphins out ahead of Getaway again. We had some great sails aboard her, she was a fun boat. Alas, Hurricane Sally destroyed her despite being in a sheltered, supposedly safe area, well tied down. Now, those days are gone and we keep thinking how much less stress and cost we have to suffer through, not keeping a boat on the Gulf Coast.

My wife and I have done several Viking river cruises in Europe and enjoyed them. They do some river cruises around Christmas time and visit all the Christmas markets.
When we do ocean cruises it is usually on NCL or Celebrity.

Who gives a shit? Honestly, no one cares. Find the part where I'm bitching about river cruising, good luck.

I'd offer 'First come first served' Free Cruise and once the ship is packed to full capacity with the FSA and set sail, announce we're heading back to Africa, adding 'We were kind enough to pay your way over here the first time and now we're kind enough to pay your way back.'

As far as a way to travel it is fine for some people. When these people first suggested it, I warned my wife there was probably a reason they lost friends on every cruise and there was. These two assholes were astounding assholes, not just rude to us or picking arguments over silly shit, they were assholes to staff and fellow passengers alike and it made for a long two weeks. The food was great and the folks keeping up with our cabin were very nice. But, in the end Viking was just lacking for our tastes. If you are geriatric and in bed by 9pm or entertained by shore excursions geared towards people with IQ's under 100 or people who enjoy shopping for the same Chinese made garbage in every port, they had it nailed.

I have far more fun traveling solo or as a couple and finding my own stops. Any canned trips from cruise or tour companies tend towards the socialist agenda, climate religion dogma or straight communist world view. I don't need a lecture from some limey twat on hunting and how offended he is that a royal has a rifle or a farmer shoots a fox. Or commentary from some euro-trash on America for that matter. If you liked hearing America mocked by assholes who are literally kissing American asses for dollars, Viking has them employed in spades.

We are one and done for cruising.

Royal Caribbean is a great cruise line to go on, especially if you have kids. My wife and I have been on 2 and she’s itching to go on more. If you can get over your friends being cunts to everyone and give it another go find a RC cruise that starts or ends somewhere interesting. You don’t have to do their shore trips either, they’re just much easier more convenient

Over my 44 year in the Oilfields, I spent many years Offshore. One year I did 9 months out of the year offshore.

I sent the wife and kids on a Cruise or two. And they had a good time. No way in Hell will I pay to go out on the Ocean.

Pretty well the same comment for Chopper. But I did go with the family on the Grand Canyon Chopper thing when we were all out in Vegas....

The "Blow Me"
Yea, they didn't want to approve the name but being it was a sail boat and neither word has any offensive intent they tried to disapprove it, but couldn't.
The only thing it lacked was a swing, or retracting keel......sucker drafted 8 foot and after having to have it repaired the 2nd time I said screw it and sold the boat.
It was a lead faced skag.....acted as ballast and had a detrimental effect on my wallet.
