Steiner T6xi

I’ve owned the Leupold 3-15, Steiner T6XI 3-18, and the Steiner H6XI 3-18 FFP. For hunting, anything below 5-6X the reticle was too fine and the illumination wasn’t bright enough for daylight shots.

Steiner just came out this year with a RFP (2nd focal plane) H6XI in both 2-12 & 3-18. For hunting, the 2nd focal plane makes sense, lighter than the T6XI, not locking elevation turret but it was stiff enough I wasn’t concerned. I hunt thick wooded areas so having a wide FOV and a reticle I can actually see quickly is key.

I actually picked up-Zeiss V6 2.5-15 with nuclear bright illuminated dot and phenomenal glass they have on sale everywhere for $1,200. Just a crosshair on the Zeiss, so the RFP H6XI’s have me interested at $1,100.

Bullet jump on 5.56x45 when slammed into battery

I set up Lee crimp die and run it down to touch.

I mark that as zero, I run down till completely closed looking down into the collet from above, mark that as 100%.

I split the distances in half one fourth and on the low end 1/8.

Some where between 1/8 and 1/4 you get the mouth of the neck to move in and take the blunt edge off the case, nothing more.

You can feel the difference with a fingernail and under magnification just barely see it smooth down.

I could never get a decent measurement so don't try anymore.

That's sort of subjective but best I have to tell anybody and with the 0.002 mandrel has never been a problem in an AR-15.

So what are the ar 10 guys doing?
