Anyone Shooting a 40x?

Excuse me because I’m still trying to learn more about the 40x. I have a vudoo and a rimx but like the idea of a 40x repeater conversion in something like a m40 stock or fbi hrt stock. My question why do some 40x have a straight bolt handle and some have the swept handle seen on most 700s?
This is a 40X....it mimics the 722. Has the straight bolt. It came first.

This is a 40XB.....it mimics the 700. It came after the 40X.

Neither are a 722 or 700. They never were a centerfire at any point ever in their production lives. They started life in the custom shop. They appear to be what they appear to be. But on the inside....they they have their own unique construction and parts that makes them inherently a rimfire rifle. They are their own animals seperate of the their centerfire counterparts.

This is the rimfire bolt. It's has locking lugs in the middle of the bolt body. Unlike a centerfire that has them on the end up by the chamber. So to accommodate that and the ejector and feed ramp....it takes many different internal design changes. This bolt won't lock up in a regular 700 short action or vice versa. So don't let anyone tell you a 40X rimfire and a 40X centerfire are same thing or that they came from a centerfire reciever. A rimfire can use short action centerfire stocks (within reason to accommodate the solid single shot reciever) and triggers and rails.

Hornady 3-1 vs. other automated case trimmers?

Been looking for a hornady 3 in 1 myself, they are out of stock everywhere I've looked. I've only heard good things about the henderson as well.
Might as well go with the trimmer that hornady stole the design from.
Henderson is always getting calls asking for replacement parts for the hornady. 🙄

Trump is back…the “Now What” thread

Not kidding at all. Its basic risk management for any business. Why invest in something when there is a real risk of it being nullified down the road? Have you ever run a business? Everything is risk v reward. Either you run it out of your pocket or the shareholders' pockets, both of which require profit on investments. In order to move the businesses here permanently you are looking at either permanent tariffs or government subsidies to those companies. I have serious doubts about these tariffs being permanent and I for sure wouldn't go all in on expansion until the dust settles.

I'm not against the tariffs, I never said that. But there are things businesses must consider before they invest in America. Basically, there is no trust that the politicians won't turn their backs on both the American business and the American workers the first chance they get. This is one of his main points in the article. Why? Because they are beholden to their donors and for those donors it is still too expensive to produce here at the same price point it can be gotten overseas, and at a minimum if the tariffs go away the profits of these companies are better if they go international where the production cost are lower, so you can bet your ass they will be pushing for that, and soon. Case in point: Walmart and Target have already met with Trump over this issue. Until that changes and you get lobbyists out of the politicians offices nothing is going to change in any permanent fashion. This is the reality of business.

Trump did say, although understated, that his tariff plan was going to be painful. it will. i believe his intention is to start a rebuild for the distant future. if so,he is wise indeed. the average American has an attention span of maybe 2 weeks at best. our main and only true rival's short term plans are a century. he and his ideas did not cause the coming pain. that was Johnson,Obiden,Clinton,Bush x 2. Regan was way not perfect but his limited moves did buy us about 10-20 years. we would have been worse then than we are now with 4 more of peanut breath. that chance got blown by the Dem executive and the uniparty congress since then. the same really applies to lousy health status, illiterate college grads, rampant crime, mindless wars of choice and open invasion.
indeed i am not happy with some things Trump is doing and hasn't done. he is not the/a messiah. his presence in truth gives us the best chance to see things turn around in the last 100 years. they have been going bad at least that long.

Badlands "Shell Shock" 5.56 - snake oil?

I've only had the opportunity to fire a handful of the 80 something grain badlands rounds and wasn't able to chrony it, but it shot accurately out of my 16" Criterion.

I have played around with the Black Arc stuff though. I tend to relegate ammunition to certain rigs that I use for certain tasks.

I picked up 100 rounds of the 77gr Black Arc and 150 rounds of the 53gr V-Max stuff. I got the 77gr stuff for my Mod H inspired 16" rig and the 53gr stuff to run in my 11.5.

The 77s in the 16" criterion hybrid barrel got me 2800ish fps and shot as accurately or better than results I get with either Black Hills or IMI stuff.

The 53gr V-Max out of my 11.5 got me 2900ish fps and shot lights out. The most accurate 50ish grain round I've tried thus far and it was FAST.

Is it worth it? If you roll your own, probably not; but, if you shoot commercial ammo, it might be. The 77s are priced a bit higher than Black Hills, but the 53s are in line with other premium ammo.

Of what I've tried so far, I really like the 53s. I dont plan on shooting my 11.5 beyond 400 and the 53s hit steel with authority at that distance.

I'd like to try the 77s in the 11.5, but I don't see spending $1.40 a round to do what I do with the 11.5. At $1 a round for the 53s, I can see keeping a small stash for the occasional thrill or days when the wind is particularly bad.

L3i New "Stinger" Barreled action

Actions back then must have been spot on compared to the last 4 years or so.
I can't speak to the state of things after I left, but I can imagine the direction things could've gone. But having said that, pre-fits for the Vudoo were never as difficult as they were made out to be.
