Slugging barrels......Don't F'in do things like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About a month ago, I stuck a 2" long .330" pin gauge into the well oiled bore of a new 338 Bartlein barrel blank. I turned it loose and it slowly started slithering to the other end. I was fascinated by the fact that I could put my finger over the hole and feel a suction and make the pin stop, remove my finger and it would start moving again. In a few seconds it fell out the other end. I'm easily entertained.

A more quiet suppressor on a 50 BMG rifle ?

If you are going to shoot a lot of 50 from bolt guns, the only reason to NOT suppress it with an Ultra 50 RR (or another can that has similar overall sound & recoil performance... if any exist??) is for concerns of cost, or weapon overall length. The difference in shootability is dramatic, like a 100x difference in how many rounds you can shoot in a day and still retain good trigger presses. We are spotting our own hits at any distance (like including sub 300 yards) and an average taken from a variety of shooters the reticle movement off the POA is typically in the 1-5 mils range (depending on shooter, position, etc, etc).

Now, as far as why our demo gun runs short barrels, it's because we used the same AX ELR rifle with a series of barrels that we burned through for endurance testing, IE, worst case heat cycle with shorter-than-final-rating barrel length. While doing that we found out that at anything shorter than true ELR distances it didn't really make a big difference in ability to get hits, and obviously the rifle was a lot easier to cart around, which we do a lot with demo guns.

That said, a lot of departments, etc, have 50's for vehicle interdiction at what we (as SH forum members) consider close or even point blank distances. There is no need for long barrels in this application. All those cool guy photos of guys shooting 50's at boats (or specifically boat engines) from helicopters are at pretty close range -- and they are running short barrels on those guns already.

The Problem With Pam Bondi

Here's a few articles about him. Reactions are mixed.

From this next article:

Here's his LinkedIn page:

I was already aware. That said, all I can say is we will see. The DOJ and Congress as it is right now could end all the woes that people have this second about the 2A. They aren’t.

A career ATF guy now in a position of power, regardless of his record will probably not be the saving grace of the 2A. I hope I’m wrong.

Craddock RTR

Well, my range trip was forced short and practical due to work and upcoming hog hunt - BUT - the 13.9" Craddock Pangris barrels ran 100% and accuracy looks very promising - one rifle had a 3.5X ACOG and the other a thermal scope so nothing worth photographing or writing home about quite yet other than to say - performance is in line with what I've seen out of other barrels that proved to be sub MOA off a rest. Was using the tripod today. I'll find a day that I can bench all 4 and get some real results with a 20X scope and variety of ammo sooner than later.

I can say conclusively that they will both whack pigs dead with today's results. Also saw 2,490 fps out of factory Underwood 110 gr Controlled Chaos rounds. Out of a 13.9", super happy with that. Hornady ELD 123 was more in the 2350 ish range.
