Rifle Scopes March 5-42 Gen 2 PRS Edition

Not the same model but I have the 4.5x28 with the LDK reticle. It’s a nice piece of glass, fov is amazing. They ship it with this ring that fits between the sun shade and the scope that does excellent at cutting mirage. I have the shuriken turrets and I’m not in love with the clicks but the visibility and spacing is really good, no guessing if you dialed a tenth over under. I did a tall target test and it was spot on 6 mils up and back down. It fell out of the rack into a cement floor, gave a pretty nasty mark, knocked it of zero. I repeated the tall target test and it tracked perfectly up 6 mils and back to zero. I keep wanting to find something wrong with this scope but it’s really good and the glass is excellent. Not quite as sharp as my zco’s but really good.
The ring to which you refer is called a Modifier Disk (MD). What is does is reduce the size of the aperture (objective) by 50% and thus increases the depth of field viewed through the riflescope. The objective lens diameter is 52MM, and it makes for a handy riflescope. I have one on an AR-10, a rifle which is heavy enough as it is without plunking a heavy riflescope on it.

How do you like the LDK reticle?

I find the clicks on the shuriken turrets to be very positive and extremely accurate. I have the same turrets on my Majesta sitting on top of my match rifle and I really like them. However, I would like to know what you do not like about them.

I have not banged up my scopes like you have, yet, so I'm glad to hear about your torture test experiment. Those 4mm thick tubes can really take some punishment.

Hensoldt 3,5-26x56 vs PMII

I assumed that the Finnish army chose the same scope for their set-up. But I could definitely be wrong on that part.
We run the Hensoldt on this side of Östersjön, that I can confirm.

In fact I find it interesting that there is two completely different scopes chosen on the mutual procurement contract.
I do not know exactly how it work on that side of the pond, but here it is not all that uncommon for the specific units to have a couple of options of different optics. They go with what they prefer.

Steiner has been very active in Europe with their M7Xi scopes, so I see them issued a fair bit. It seems that they have gotten some design wins that would nearly automatically go to Hensoldt or S&B in the past. I thought that Kahles' K328i was going after some of the same contracts, so it will be interesting to see if anything is reshuffled in the next couple of years.

Any Giraud Annealer folks here?

Yeah. Set it and forget it.

You can get there with flame - and much easier than 20 years ago, since how to do it right is more obvious today - and there are certain advantages of having an automated hopper (not that Rube Goldberg contraption the "AMP-maiden" or whatever they call it - don't bother with that gizmo). That's why I keep the giraud, for my 223 and 308 cases that I do in bulk and don't really care about "perfect"

I kept the Giraud since I had it first, and it was going to be a PITA to sell/ship, not worth the $$$. But if I started with the AMP, I don't know if I'd get teh Giraud or go with the Ugly or the Annealeze for ~$300

But I'll tell you what, if you're staring at a pile of 500+ 223 cases, that you have to do one at a time with the AMP, you better have a bottle of something there to help get you through the session
