Optics Gen 3 Razor 1-10

Sold a Leupold MK5 3-18 a while back and am kicking myself. Picked up this Razor for an aborted build and now it's time to move it... again. Old eyes need that parallax adjustment.
Tried selling a few months back but someone scammed the gentleman who agreed to buy and now am hesitant to try again. Rest assured I'll run the gamut to make sure that doesn't happen again.
If someone wants to trade for a similarly priced Leupold Mk5 +/- a few dollars that'd be great. Otherwise original deal stands
$1500 shipped.

Thanks

Get ready for the Cartels to step up their game,...

@jr81452

Don’t rock the boat!

1. Thou shalt not think beyond the dichotomy of “right” = “good” and “left” = “bad”
2. Thou shalt adopt the Defense Mechanism called “Splitting” to diefy “us” and vilify “them”
3. Thou shalt lay foundational knowledge solely upon Twitter posts
Oh, I know the herd "rules". But following them would require me to care how my thoughts are interpreted/received by "X" group, and I don't. Probably has something to do with all the stories my paternal grandparents told me about living in 1930's Germany. I'm always suspicious of what the herd thinks is "best".

I appreciate you caring enough to warn me though. One of these days, as the noose tightens around my neck, I'll be thinking "I should have listened to Edsel" ;)

they "lost" over 400k kids thy trafficked into the country since xiden so you tell me if they were helping or hurting.
Maybe it would be a good idea to stop believing everything you see on TT/FB/X? It used to be SOP to question everything someone posted on the internet, when did that stop being a thing?

"Republicans began making claims that more than 300,000 unaccompanied children had been "lost" after the Department of Homeland Security released a report in August which showed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, did not serve notices to appear in court to 291,000 children between fiscal year 2019 and May 2024.

Additionally, 32,000 unaccompanied children failed to show up for immigration court dates from fiscal year 2019 to 2023.

Notably, around half of this period occurred when Trump was president. The report did not specify the number of children who missed court appearances under each administration.

While the DHS report stated that children who do not attend their court hearings can be at a higher risk of being trafficked or exploited, it did not say that the total 323,000 children referenced are unaccounted for or missing.

The Trump transition team did not respond to a request for clarification on Trump's claims.

Experts point to ICE's "missing paperwork problem"

In response to the DHS report, ICE said delays in issuing court notices to some of 291,000 unaccompanied children may stem from some being eligible to apply for asylum or legal status. In some cases, that process might be allowed to play out before ICE sends them a court date to begin removal proceedings.

"This is not a 'missing kids' problem; it's a 'missing paperwork' problem," said Jonathan Beier, an associate director of research at the Acacia Center for Justice's Unaccompanied Children Program, which helps represent migrant children.

In the cases of the 32,000 minors who missed immigration court dates, experts on immigration law explained that these minors could miss court for numerous reasons, including that they did not receive their notice to appear because ICE did not have their correct address on file.

Sometimes there are communication failures between ICE and other government agencies — including the Department of Health and Human Services, which is entrusted with finding children living arrangements with a shelter or sponsor while they await legal proceedings.

"I think for the most part, many of these children have been placed with loving family members," said Raul Pinto, deputy legal director for transparency at the American Immigration Council.

What we know about claims that unaccompanied children face dangers

Trump also claimed in the interview that hundreds of thousands of children who crossed the border unaccompanied are "now slaves, sex slaves or dead." There is no evidence of anything like this scale of abuse.

By law, after unaccompanied minors from foreign countries are detained at the border, they're quickly turned over to the care Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement, which aims to place children in "the least restrictive setting that is in the best interests of the child."

The office attempts to release children to sponsors, which can include parents, relatives and guardians, and federal policy dictates that the government vet these sponsors via interviews or background checks.

Despite these safeguards, some migrant children have ended up in unsafe situations, though the exact number is not known.

It's also protocol for the refugee resettlement office to follow up with sponsors around 30 days after the child's release, but a percentage of these phone calls have gone unanswered during the Biden and Trump administrations.

Both Republicans and Democrats have previously cited these missed calls to make claims that unaccompanied children were lost by those administrations. However, unanswered calls do not necessarily equate to these children being missing or in danger, experts say.

"It does not mean that the child's in an unsafe place. It means someone didn't answer the phone," said Jennifer Podkul, chief of global policy and advocacy for Kids in Need of Defense, an organization providing legal representation for unaccompanied children."

Scope identitification needed.. info please

I tried numerous times today to get in contact with anyone at US Optics today but was unable to. I also looked up the SN9 that u said this was and saw several pictures that showed the way it was mounted to several platforms. After looking at those images and the ones from this link which details all of the Us Optics scopes from that era, it seems to resemble the SN3 more so. Not doubting your word at all, as I have never owned a USO product before this one. I wish they would have answered so I would have definitive info. I am more than willing to sell it to you as u know more so from first hand knowledge what it is. Here is the link I mentioned earlier. http://www.louiscandell.com/pdf/fire/2004_unitedstatesoptics_catalog.pdf

I think you are right... that it is an SN-3 with an SN-9 style early front bell for adjusting parallax. It seems to have internally adjustable turrets. Sorry, I was looking at it on a phone last night. And didn't notice that the turrets were part of the erector. The Parallax is adjusted by turning the front bell, not on the erector as on the later scopes.

Should be a 22x. And actually WOULD be much more at home on a Barrett. The challenge with these in fielded conditions is you had to reach way forward to adjust your parallax. Most of the Barretts were fielded with fixed 10x. Which doesn't seem like a lot of power, but for an anti-material rifle worked fine and was really rugged.

I would give USO a couple of days. They won't be able to help much via phone. But if you e-mail them at: [email protected] They will get back to you pretty quick. Put in the title "Info on older US Optics Scope" and include the serial number. They will be able to get the date info, etc. for you.

Here is an SN-9 on a .338 Lapua. It's as massive as it looks!!!

Fun picture of the SN-9 done by someone here on SH many, many years ago!! These are 35 - 40X scopes.

I'd still be interested in your SN-3 as I have a project rifle coming together that it will be perfect for...

But first I'd try and get info from USO. PM inbound!

And my apologies for mis-identifying it from the phone pictures... my bad!

Cheers,

Sirhr

Gloves are recommended if carrying outside of prone or tripod use. It’s not terrible, but the Arca rail isn’t made for human hands.

Attaching bipods and tripods wherever you want, quickly, securely, and easily is nice. I’m not sure why the same thing couldn’t be accomplished with picatinny, but I’m familiar with Arca and don’t mind.

I found just the right environment for the fifty shades of FDE (100 miles north of Boise).

My recoil sensitive 7 year old says it has less recoil than my AR15, and now it’s his favorite gun.
How's it shooting for you so far and what ammo does it seem to prefer?

Definitely light enough for offhand shooting even with all the crap I’ve added. With a 1-8 and no other crap, this would be very reasonable. The “A” version is gonna rock.

FUBAR times 6!

LOL.

Just when I thought I was being soooooo sarcastic, only a . . . . well . . . . a mentally challenged person . . . . would think I was being literal.

Holy shit! He took that bait and ripped all the line off of my Zebco 33 running with it.**
I'm pretty sure he would have done the same with a salt water surf rig.

Gotta love the internet!
I like TOTALLY need to come here more and troll for dumbasses.

**@Wannashootit . . . . To be clear, I do not have a Zebco 33 and I do not, in fact have any bait.

Advice needed for 2017 Buick Enclave repairs

Wife had a RAV4. Took it to Toyota at about 30k for something. They did a “courtesy” inspection and told me needed brakes both axles to the tune of 2500. Took it home and pulled a front and rear wheel and inspected the brakes. Put the wheels back on and she drove it another 25k before it needed front brakes. Still had the original rear brakes when we sold at 70k.

Get ready for the Cartels to step up their game,...

No, with the Chi Coms supplying them with the precursors for Fentanyl it's not even like you can target agriculture. Honestly, I think hardening that border and stepping up the Coasties LeDet operations is the way to go. Trying to stop it on their turf seems much more difficult to me, and it really didn't work last time. Maybe this time will be different...
It's just more of the same "we'll fight them there, so we don't have to fight them here" nonsense the MIC always pushes. I agree that it would be infinity more effective to pile up STA/USAS on the border and Coasties in the water. But that would stop ALL of the smuggling, including the items the Pols and wealthy WANT to get into/out of the country. Can't have that.
