A Small Rant about AR mounts ahead of April Fools Day

How much cantilever you want? I have a ZCO 420 in a Badger Max on a small frame and it works fine

Enough to mount the scope?

ZCO 4-20x50 is 90mm of eye relief plus (79+62.5+53) mm of scope from the ocular to the front of the saddle, so 90+194.5mm of scope from your eyeball to the minimum placement position of the rear of the forward ring. (chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.zcompoptic.com/images/products/zc420/ZC420%2001MIL%20Datasheet_ENG_web.pdf)

The Kahles is 92mm of eye relief plus (106+71+53) mm of scope from the ocular to the front of the saddle, so 92+230mm of scope from your eyeball to the minimum placement position of the rear of the forward ring. (https://www.kahles.at/us/sport/riflescopes/k328i-3_5-28x50i-dlr)

In other words, the rear most position for the rear of the forward ring on the Kahles is 37.5mm further forward than on the ZCO, or 1.5".

The Area 419 cantilever mount would need to be about 2 pic rail notches longer of cantilever.

Nashville school shooting

I know three different doctors who all think psychiatry is pseudo science at best.

Why is it that the overwhelming majority of these mass kill fuckwits are on nutjob drugs and not in the nutjob bin?
If they were kept in the nutjob bin, then the psychiatrists would be out of a job. Remember, the perceived job of a psychiatrist is to get the patient back to "normal."

If they were kept in the nutjob bin, they would not be considered "normal." Therefore, the psychiatrists keep Dizzy and Daffy on the happy pills and declare them to be normal so they can be out on the street.

If they are locked up there's no need to keep them on the happy pills. No happy pills = no job for the psychiatrist.

Dizzy and Daffy are deemed "normal" as long as they take their happy pills.

The problem with all of the above depends on who is defining the word "normal."

Well not exactly, and not in most cases. But, lack of oxygen at the time of birth, either though blood flow restriction to the brain or though environmental oxygen starvation can and will cause serious non repairable brain injury.
Severe asphyxia can cause:
What they don’t tell you is that the person with that type of injured brain becomes a somewhat violent and VERY ANTISOCIAL individual. I had several clients who suffered from asphyxia at the time of birthing. They are not people you want to be around.

HOWEVER, a treatment has been found. Not medically approved or used or authorized to use by the powers that be. A strong dose of DMSO intravenously immediately administered will promote enough oxygenation to alleviate the symptoms.

Worked with mental retardation all my life. Mention an issue in that field and I can say, sadly, that I’ve seen it, worked with people who had it and can’t say, despite some efforts, much is truly being done. Still far too many “professionals’ want those people to spend their lives trying to put square pegs in round holes in sheltered workshops.
Brain injury yes. Mental retardation no.

Actually sorry to hear you have had to deal with and see things like that..

some professions I simply could not bare to do and that is one of them.

Soon to be released new Rimfire action…….

Machines are getting spun up shortly and these will be hitting the market soon.

Short throw, 700SA footprint. They’ve been tested for awhile, this is all I am allowed to share.

Dry fire capable since the firing pin never protrudes beyond the bolt.

They will be available in barreled action only to start.

OK this actually brings up a need I have - do they have something like this in a consumer type version? I'm not talking about the ones you buy at Harbor Freight, Northern tool, etc that have a handle and wheels - those suck. I need to pick up lots of nails from a pile of pallets that were burned.
Those wheeled magnets vary greatly in strength. You don't want a shitty homeowner quality one. You need to look at a commercial roofing supplier. ABC is the big one in my part of the country. Trust me, the commercial grade ones will pick up your nails. I borrowed one from work last year to clean up an old burn pile at a house I bought.

A good one will cost you a few hundred dollars.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Handguns...show 'em

I took it out to the range today. Was shooting 230gr Win Ranger T. It shot just to left of the POA. Put 50 through it with not a hitch, except bruising my hand😂.
Mine also likes the Ranger T. It's the only semi auto pistol I own that has never misfired, stovepiped, FTF/FTF or had any issues whatsoever. Also shoots like a much bigger gun. The helical spring and bull barrel are amazing.

Interesting… and raises ethical questions!!

You've only seen artist's conceptions of dire wolves. Leaving the real/fake arguments aside, these are genetically identical to the extinct animals known as dire wolves, and that is how they looked as juveniles 12,000 years ago.

Keep in mind these puppies are now the size of gray wolves and will continue to grow for another eight months. That said, they are not going to be anywhere near as huge as I've seen them often depicted.

Just because they look the same doesn't mean they are the same.

Genetically modifying elephants to have hair and look like mammoths doesn't make them mammoths.

Cool nonetheless though.

U.S. Army/Navy/USMC M14-based sniper and DMR/SDM rifles circa late-1960s to late 201Xs

Thanks for posting that picture. I have one of the same Marine w/ same M14 DMR rifle, but I didn't know the date & place until now.
What is interesting re that DMR rifle is the non-standard scope and rings. Not sure what scope that is, but it's clearly not the standard issue Leupld Mk 4, fixed 10x scope that used GGG or Badger Ordnance rings. Looks like a quick release set-up of some sort.

Here's a left-handed Marine with a DMR including the original GG&G mount and rings, along with the 10x Leupold Mk 4 scope.

Do believe that's a Larue Stomp mount with an early gen Vortex

Leveling a scope is dumb

Id imagine it smells like "aspiring Frenchmen" from wonderful French colonies like Central Africa 🇨🇫, Chad 🇹🇩, Congo 🇨🇩, etc. Based on my experience in that area of the world, it would be a rarher crisp scent you'd never forget. I might completely wrong.
A bit sharp, almost sulphurous, with a side of putrid rot and a dash of stale pit.

Vortex range finders

Useful range is about 1/2 of what is advertised. For almost all LRFs. Consider how many rifles you have to choose from and how much their total cost was. Now remember that if your rangefinder is incorrect, or doesn’t work at the range you need it to, or in bad weather, or because the battery dies too fast, etc, all those rifle investments are worth nothing.
