Weight of Zermatt Origin scope rail

I ended up running the Hawkins Long Range Hybrid rings at 3oz and some change. And the Leupold VX5 3-15x44 at 19oz.

My rifle totals out to 8.8# with the suppressor (Silencerco Scythe Ti)

I had it down lighter but I found I needed the extra magnification and turrets of the VX5 for the type of hunting I was doing. It’s been a sweet setup with some long kills under its belt and has traveled tons of miles on my back.

Absolutely would buy the Hawkins rings again, they are a bit annoying to set up perfect with the bubble level on the top of the rings. But once you’ve got it all set up it’s a feature that I really like.

Hope this helps.

It does thanks!

Berry tumbler question and fine grit stuck in flash hole

Porkan is very deserving of puerile jabs. One need not meet him, as his reputation precedes him.

I just bought a 25# bag of white rice from costco. My wife is still making her way through it, after my first trial run ended with terrible impactions. Of course, I threw out the sample from my trial run, I didn't put it back in the bag!
Again Orken maybe an asshole of the first order, and deserving of your sophomoric jabs, but the fact remains you used the wrong rice. Nishiki Rice is a larger grain rice and won't get stuck in your flash holes or cause impactions.

Leveling a scope is dumb

I shoot 1000 yards regularly with a 6.5 man bun
Have also shot 1 mile and successfully hit targets

How far out do I have to shoot before I realize my reticle isn't level?

I have setup my scopes with the wheeler system
Mmmkay. But this being the internet and all, that validates jack shit.

are you a place holder in PRS? Are you in Ko2m? Something? No? I have to assume you lob rounds at a target, giggle about it and go home. That doesn’t not set the accuracy standard.

And it doesn’t change the fact that the scope cap is not always square with the reticle when giving general advice.

I don't know what kind of Rice you used, because it does make a difference. I get no rice of the kind I listed stuck in the flash holes on both 5.56mm or 6.5 Creedmoor cases, which is all I use nowadays.

Since you use a disparaging name for Orken I can only assume you have a personal animus against the man. A man who, BTW I've never met, and I've never bought any product from. The rice method works, without dust, and without any rice being stuck in flash holes.

IMHO and YMMV

Primary Arms Optics - Discovery 2025: PLx Compact Long Range Scopes Unveiled

I'm not convinced that the components are equally robust. Durability-wise, Nightforce advertises thicker-than-industry-average scope tubes cut from billet, whereas the industry norm is supposedly extruded tubes. Primary Arms makes no such claims for the PLxC, so I assume they're using standard extruded tubes. It is my understanding that Nightforce's thicker, stronger tubes are a primary driver of Nightforce scopes' reputation for durability, which in turn is a primary justification for their price point.

Can anyone produce any data to support or refute that train of logic?
I do not know of any decent scope company using extruded tubes. I’ve visited a bunch of them and they all machine them out of billet.

Wall thickness argument is the same kind of nonsense. I think we had a long thread about it a year or two ago.

Most riflescope marketing people have a hard time figuring out which end of the scope to look into and they most certainly have no comprehension of anything technical about them.

The general rule is that if you see something technical sounding in an advertising of riflescope, it is either a lie, a mistake or an irrelevant fabrication. Every once in a while i am pleasantly surprised, but that’s very rare.

And so it begins...

I'm happy to assist you with questions, and we've made a lot of Creeds for folks starting out. Feel free to give us a call

Personally I lean towards the 6 Creed for folks that aren't reloading and will be shooting because the 6 Creed match ammo still seems to shoot better at distance. We spent a lot of time and effort developing our 6mm Creed reamer and it shoots factory match ammo into little tiny knots over and over again.

Ultimately though, either chamber is going to handle what you're trying to do.
