Lanyard beads for knives

Hi!! Anyone got suggestions for unique lanyard beads for knives? I’m not talking about the usual mass-produced stuff—looking for something with personality or a bit of craftsmanship behind it. Animal heads, Norse themes, steampunk styles, anything that stands out without being too bulky. I’ve seen some cool pieces in bronze and titanium, but prices are all over the place. Are there any small makers or hidden gems out there worth checking out? I’d love to add something original to my EDC setup that’s both functional and a conversation starter.
Thanks for any suggestions

Problem with bump gauge insert

I recently decided to try making more accurate 556 ammo by sorting brass, measuring shoulder from cases fired in my rifle, using bushing and micrometer dies, etc. Unfortunately, unlike my other Sinclair bump gage inserts, the 556 #23 will not pass over the case mouth of brass from my AR. It works as it should on new or sized brass. I only have the full length bushing die. Did I get the wrong insert? It really does me no good if it doesn’t fit fired cases. I have inserts for 338 Lapua, 308, and 6.5 Grendel and all work on fired brass as they should.

First Remington 700 build..

I might be answering my own question but here we go..

I mostly shoot rimfire for the fun of it and NRL/PRS match when I can. I’ve Been wanting to build a centerfire rifle for awhile now and ran across a barely used Remington 700 .308 25?inch barrel in a Boyd stock and a Nikon hunting scope for 500$ “RR” in the serial from what I’ve gathered it’s a pre 2020 700..

I have a range that goes to 1100yards and would like to eventually to shoot there.
That being said am I wasting time having the action blueprinted and rebarreled along with chassis etc? Or just buy a custom action and build a 6GT and keep the .308 put a middle of road scope and triggertech for playin around with?

Accessories Field Optics Research Hunter Carbon Tripod

Brand new in box never used.

$500 OBO

The Hunter 32DTC3 ASFPL/s Tripod System is an entirely new class of tripod design. The patent pending design by Field Optics was created with the primary purpose of creating the lightest and strongest hunting & Shooting tripod ever invented. And we did... The Hunter 32DTC3 is only 3.95 lbs, 57" tall with a pack dia of 3.4".

The design is similar to a BowlTop style tripod but with a DomeTOP, the tension handle is above the tripod frame rather than below the frame, in-between the legs. This provides greater access to the tension handle and far superior ergonomic control, especially in a dynamic-moving target situation.

The system has +/- 30 deg of pitch and 360+ deg of pan. It comes standard with an Arca Swiss F-Picatinny Lever Clamp head assembly and utilizes the FORI Band Clamp System. Due to its modular design, the ASFPL can be replaced by any standard tripod head via the 1/4-20 x 3/8-16 stud adapter. The tripod legs consist of 3 segment twist lock removable legs, 32mm dia carbon fiber material.

Hey everyone. First off, it appears the crown style has no effect on a rifle’s accuracy. But I thought it would be fun to see what kind of crown you guys like (and why).

My Kidd has a counterbored crown. Not sure if centerfires have this style?

Our own @Frank Green has an enlightening list over on accurate shooter:

He does mention one advantage to the 11° is you can see the gas venting lines, which is a shortcut way of seeing if your crown is messed up. This trick surely(?) doesn’t work when using a suppressor. (Edit: wrong!)
1747715574867.jpeg

He also approves of breaking the crown’s edge at 60° vs. leaving it sharp.

Recessed crowns of any type can help avoid crown damage.

Anyway, have fun!

Help me pick a scope...

I'm looking for the best glass I can find in the $1500 range. Preferably in a 5-25 setup...or something close to that range. I'm going down the rabbit hole way too much and need some help. I've looked at

Vortex Razor LHT 4.5-22
Leupold Mk4 & Mk5
Athlon Cronus
Element Nexus
Zeiss LRP S3 (used one)...
Meopta Optika 6
Anything else in that price range that would offer better glass?

It will go on a Tikka T3 Tac A1 6.5 Creedmoor that will be used to get out to about 1000 yards or so, with some occasional deer hunting from a blind. Any help is greatly appreciated. My eyes aren't the best in the world so glass quality is preference.

EDIT: How does the NightForce SHV 4-14x50 F1 compare to these? Not quite as much magnification as I was looking for but would it be a better optic? I've heard nothing but great things about NightForce.

Parker Hale M85 replica - Mission Impossible?

Before I begin, here’s what my latest rifle project reminds of….a series of highly improbable events that may be considered…Mission Impossible.

My Mission: collect enough M85 parts (and machining expertise) to turn this….
IMG_0973.jpeg

IMG_0980.jpeg

IMG_0981.jpeg

IMG_0987.jpeg

….Into something reasonably close to this:
IMG_1823.jpeg

M85_lt_profile.png

It would help greatly if I were a machinest (or even a gunsmith), but I’m clearly not, so there’s that. The guy who sold me the receiver and various parts did include these 3 custom taps for the barrel threading, which was helpful.
IMG_0982.jpeg

But this will require real machining expertise…
IMG_0983.jpeg

Probably use parts from unit on left to complete the M85 trigger parts on the right.
IMG_0977.jpeg

Unfortunately there are still 5 parts that I am searching for:
1. Bottom metal with mag latch (possibly requiring fabrication - need technical info).
2. Front sight (GP240 machine gun sight)
3. Front handstop (black) w/ sling swivel
4. Rear sling swivel.
5. Barrel (this will have to be custom made, just not sure who might make an M85 barrel).
(Rear sight is a unicorn, so I’m not going to worry about that one part, and fortunately it’s hidden under the scope mount).

So lots of machining to do by someone talented, heat treatment of the cast receiver, a custom barrel fitted to this old bolt, and a lot of metal refinishing…plus whatever comes along the way.

Why an M85 replica? Well, I do not have any British sniper rifles in my collection and since an L42 and L96A1 “Green Meanie” are not available (or affordable), I’ve decided to piece together P-H M85. I’m 18 months into the project, but a long ways to go. Any build tips re this ridiculous sniper rifle project are appreciated…

I also blame this Mission Impossible project on this video:
