Anyone ever have any issues with Elftmann Tactical?

Recently bought an Elftmann Tactical AR10 trigger. Dropped it in the other day and was having issues getting it to reset. Also when I installed the upper back on to the lower the bolt wouldn't cycle; it was binding on the hammer. Called Elftmann and they were really helpful. He asked for some pictures of the trigger, I sent them to him, and he was able to recognize that somehow during assembly I got an old style trigger shoe and disconnect with a new style hammer. He mailed me the correct parts and I was able to put them in today. Completely solved the reset issue but my bolt still binds on the hammer and will not cycle. Any ideas? I will get with Elftmann again tomorrow; just wanted to see if anyone had this problem before or had any ideas how to fix it.

Do you have an adjustable gas block? I had a similar issue on a build for a guy using a an elf trigger. His had the half cock feature witch I am not sure if it was on all elf triggers or just his model and the bcg struggled to fully cycle rearward to reset the hammer all the way down. I turned up the gas 4 clicks and gun cycled great after that. Just took a little bit more recoil force to reset the fire control group. I was a huge fan of the way that trigger broke and felt after I got it running. I am thinking about dropping one in a future build.

I'm not even talking about shooting. I can't even cycle the bolt with the charging handle. The bolt hangs up on the hammer and won't move. It really is an awesome trigger so I'm hoping there's a solution.

Did the gun fire/cycle fine before putting in the elf?

Did you remove the buffer tube for whatever reason when you dropped in the new trigger?

If you pull the trigger and hold it to the rear and try to cycle the bcg will it go back?

Nope. This is as far as the bolt will go back before it starts to bind.

Does your elf have just one adjustment screw in the back or 3?

Try pulling the trigger out...unscrew the screws on the sides so that they are flush with the bottom of the trigger housing, reinstall and don't tighten them down and see if it will cycle...I am thinking the trigger pin holes in the trigger maybe out of spec and have your whole trigger assembly just a tad high above the receiver. If this doesn't work I would be sending that unit back to ELF.

I'll give it a shot. The set screws are barely out of the housing. Trigger is a tight fit. Couldn't even get the trigger pins in with the thin metal plate they include that goes at the bottom of the lower.

So that worked. The bolt will cycle but I can still feel it rubbing against the hammer. :cautious:

Since you cant get the steel floorplate in with the trigger I am now leaning towards your lower possibly being milled on the tight side. Depending on how hard it rubs, you may just need to slap some lube on the hammer face and it may break in with time however only you would be able to tell if it is rubbing to hard for that to happen.

Yeah I was thinking it was milled tight as well. I'll see what Elftmann has to say tomorrow.

I have 2 ELF triggers and they seem to be hit or miss. They seem to work in some lowers but not others. I built 2 rifles that are identical with Mega billet upper and lowers. One trigger works in both Mega lowers but the second trigger doesn't work in ether lower. However the second trigger works fine in a Stag lower with a CMMG upper.

Well I received the new trigger with the milled hammer and couldn't even get the dang trigger pins into the housing. Elftmann didn't have much to say after this other than "I don't know". Just going to send the milled version back to Elftmann and sell the like new in package trigger. Please let me know if you're interested. I'll probably try Geissle next since they dont have a housing, may be more forgiving for me lower.
