Just got a call from Our Man In Ireland, and he just wanted to me to "check in with the boys on the 'Hide" and also say that things are very 'hush-hush' at the moment but expecting to deliver Big News here in the next week or so.

He is, that is. He's looking forward to being able to sign in again, and get back to posting here.

I will say though, I'm happy to hear what he did have to say, and when he's able to start sharing the tale, ya'll are going to like it. Really like it. And no, I can't make this stuff up.

Man I hope it's all good for him and his family1 They sure as hell have paid their dues. Thanks for the update Sean t N!. I have a batch of particularly fine Scotch ale I' ll uncap in celebration when it's done. ( Hopefully that will raise no ones ire as I have not made an Irish red ale this season)

    Excellent to hear.
He has been fighting the good fight forever it seems.

Looking forward to the update. Been following this story for years. I am waiting to hear that Eddieo prevailed and can finally breathe easy without the weight of the world on his shoulders.

It's not just Eddieo (as many of you are aware) who's involved in this. Or as "defendants" so-to-speak. What do you call "defendants" who go on the attack? Sorta-like a 'scorched earth' Red-Button-Nuclear-War!

    And justifiably so.

I've said so many times in the past, movie scripts aren't this convoluted, AND this is not unlike the Justified series and seasons. I'm sitting here raising a glass to those boys and their families, tonight, in tribute to all they have endured. And achieved.

He's also (him and his family) very appreciative about all the support over the years. Over 6 years, I think. Or is it 8 now? I forget.

Been going on a long time...
Looking forward to a positive resolution for him and his family.

We will eventually find out how corrupt the Irish government is, or is not. Hopefully the corrupt ones will all see their just rewards.

    Any recap for the ignorant
    Yeah, um, well,,,,,
Our Man In Ireland (Eddieo) has been going through a large number of legal issues. Not just himself, mind you. A number of fellow firearms owners have all been "attacked" dare-I-say, by the Irish Constabulary known as An Garda Siochana.

There have been many threads about this, over the years, as he/they are ALL still fighting for their Rights/Freedoms/Honor/Integrity. Here's one, after a quick search of the name Eddieo. https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/upcoming-legal-action.110175/

A summation of a summary of a short brief would be that they had a court date with their version of 'Supreme Court' that had a panel of 3 judges (dudes with wigs) and the final decision is what we're all waiting for. Among a few other things that need to happen beforehand, because they sure do things different over there. We're all waiting to see how the movie rights get done. :)

Basically some bully LEO's have taken it upon themselves to take away lawful firearms from citizens. I believe most of these firearms are bolt action rifles. When the citizens complained, the bullies went after the complainers with everything they had. Very severe intimidation tactics, threatening the citizens and their families, etc. When the citizens used the legal system to defend themselves, the corrupt LEOs were found to have committed numerous crimes, many of which are felonies. As the supervisors of the bullies went into protection mode, the stakes went up, and now supervisors and much higher have been caught doing criminal acts.

Eddie O and his associates have been standing firm, despite all that has been thrown at them. If the legal system works correctly, many heads will roll. LEO's and LEO chiefs are facing jail time, loss of accrued pensions, and being fired.

Keep fighting the fight Eddieo, see ya back here shortly. Offer still stands for drinks and dinner if you make it to Tennesse. Thanks for the update Sean the Nailer!

So Eddio had his court date in front of what I understand was the Irish equal of our Supreme Court, and he is now awaiting their final ruling. I imagine their court will try and issue a ruling that is very limited in it's scope, and hopefully, the Irish Court isn't also in on the "game" that the constabulary has been running. If the Court is in on "the game", then the ruling could be quite unfortunate.

It would be interesting to learn how the Irish high court usually rules. Does that court usually side with the people, with the prevailing political powers, or are they truly impartial?

Unknown, I'm going to take a jab at this. Your query is something that I've spoken to Eddieo about, specifically. Thing is though, it was 'some time ago', so bear with my memory.

It appears that the "judicial" side of the country and the "enforcement" side of the country are not actually "connected" they way they seem to be here in North America. I cannot stress enough, that everybody needs to remember that this is Ireland we're talking about. They REALLY do things different over there. (So much so, that they not only drive on the wrong side of the road, but they fly on the wrong side of the sky, too)

The High Court is one aspect of society there, whereas An Garda Siochana is a complete other. What we would call/compare a 'sheriff's department' would be the group to 'enforce the laws'. Over there, the local constabulary not only 'enforce the laws', but also pursue people based on personal bias and prejudice. And greed, it seems. [they don't have a Constitution to take an Oath, to.]

Short version is, he said that the High Court is really REALLY pissed at the Garda, for overstepping their bounds by assuming both roles, as opposed to what they are actually hired to do so. The manner in which 'civilians' were pursued as well as certain methods used in creating this whole debacle to begin with, was actually under the pervue of the judiciary. The manner in which so many things festered, as well as so many things were covered up has pissed off the judges too.

I doubt very much of what I'm saying is making any sense. Suffice to say, that when the whole story is able to be aired, you'll all see how a certain group of corrupt folks were re-inventing the laws of physics to make 2+2 equal the square-root of zero multiplied by the hypotenuse of the diameter. It helps when everyone remembers that the defendants are, and have been, Legal, Law Abiding, Firearm Owning Citizens. And what brought this on, is the view from An Garda Siochana that NOBODY should own/possess firearms. So crimes that DID happen by the actual criminal element of society were then linked (wrongfully) upon these boys, with the hopes and intentions that the boys would simply roll-over because the cost and effort of defense is/was insurmountable. AND to add to that, the steps and measures taken by the Garda to further their agenda, as well as cover up what they had done/were doing only made things worse.

And the longer things went on, as well as the further The Boys achieved in maintaining/proving their innocence, the deeper and worser the Garda went to covering up their actions AS WELL AS shifting the blame AND worsening the situation.

I am very pleased to hear that Ireland's high court isn't "hand in glove" with the law enforcement side as is common in the USA. At least that will give Eddio a fair shot at getting an impartial ruling.

It is interesting to me to learn how different societies deal with the court/police/prosecution/defense issues. While in the USA we have an adversarial system where each side tries to "win", a friend in Germany told me that German courts first try to figure out the truth of what happened, and only after that, they will figure out what to do about it. I have no idea if my friend in Germany was blowing smoke, or if that explanation is true, but it sounded better than an adversarial system, or a system.

The idealism that would have me saying how I wish things would work is fairly pointless because I'm not king, and don't get to make those decisions. I'm just happy to hear that Eddio might even get a fair ruling from an impartial court.

With that said, if the court is already angry with the Garda, then the Garda would rightly be sweating over the possibility that they might not get what they think would be "fair". I'm biased enough to admit that I hope Eddio gets a ruling that is more "fair" to him than it is to the Garda.

If remember correctly eddio was offered some kind of "bribe" from the Garda to shut up and drop the issue. World needs more people who will stand up and not take that deal.

    This is true.
The Garda wouldn't have offered a settlement unless they were worried about loosing in court. No one offers to surrender when they are winning.
    This is true also.

When ya'll find out what exactly was turned down, because of INTEGRITY, you'll be surprised. Just one of the many aspects going on in this situation, that's nearly unbelievable. Hence why (partly) it's taking so long.

Well, that and the fact that a certain party are REALLY dragging their feet, and shuffling along, staring at their shoes..... trying practically anything to prevent the inevitable from happening.

Remember what I alluded to, when I said 'integrity'. It'll all make sense later.

Not really any updates at this moment.

"We are good, for the most part the cops have left us alone now. But occasionally they get stupid which we can handle and it doesn't last long."

I know, I keep waiting to hear of the "North American Tour" and liver torture test. Or would that be endurance? :D

Also waiting....and hoping Eddio gets a good ruling. As I said earlier, if the guarda was winning, they wouldn't have offered a "settlement".

Especially not the 'settlement' that they offered. At first, it was seriously worth consideration. But the boys all sat together, discussed it, and then all STOOD on principles.

    God Bless those Boys!

As many times as we have heard it will be over soon, this just keeps dragging out. Best of luck to Eddio for a favorable result and a speedy finish.

Tans, I hear you. I keep hearing "we're waiting on the Courts to decide" and whatnot. I don't know how thing proceed/process over there, but he has explained to me some definite differences. But as for the timeline of Court 'events', it actually seems to be similar to what we got going on over here.

For all the testimony and evidence submitted, one would think it's a "slam-dunk". It seems though that the other side hasn't released all of their "self-incriminating evidence" as requested by the Courts. That's how I understand it at the moment, anyways. They do things differently over there, and drive one the wrong side of the road,,,,, fly on the wrong side of the sky. You get it.

At least in the USA getting a higher court to even agree to hear a case, or an appeal means the higher court thinks there is merit to the case. It won't help the guarda's case if the high court there has asked evidence, and does not receive it promptly. Even judges are still people who are smart enough to know when someone is stalling, or stonewalling them, and they don't take Kindly to that. As impartial as court's try to be, they are still humans who remember when they have been disrespected.

Considering that the Guarda has stalled providing requested information, and that they Guarda has offered a settlement, I am very hopeful for a favorable ruling for Eddio.

If Eddio ever makes it to our shores, I would consider it an honor to "help test his liver's strength".

This is a quote from Ed, just now:

"Guys. Sean was kind enough to post a link for the thread for me.

I am truly humbled, truly humbled that you give us that much support.

I can't believe it's been this long either. I don't think anyone else can as well. It's been quite horrendous the stress they have put us under. On more than one occasion I have to admit I seriously considered walking away. Everybody did. We have come around the other side of all this. We have beaten every single bull shit allegation thrown at us and beaten it well. Now it's our turn. We are simply at the mercy of the courts schedule and have to work through it. The most recent incident was an anonymous letter to me. That was last year. They unfortunately made a stupid error that proved that they illegally hacked and accessed email accounts without a court order. We know bank accounts were also illegally accessed. We have made formal complaints to the equivalent of the FBI here. We know they got prints off the envelope and DNA. We will get them.

There isn't too much more I can say about the case. I want to just again say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support. We have all learned a very valuable lesson in all this.

There are very few people that can be trusted in the police here.

    Thanks again guys

    Ed"
