Just brought this home the other day and got the chance to get it sighted in tonight. I’ve never wanted to go on a hunt out west as bad as I do now.

    - built by Spinners Fit & Chamber (a lot of you guys know Justin does top notch work and this is proof) on a Tuebor Titanium
    - bartlein 3b spiral fluted 26” barrel in 6.5 PRC
    - Huber trigger
    - mcmillan game warden with hydro dip
    - Seekins bottom metal (will probably trade this out for something more flush fitting that can accept a 3 round mag)
    - Eotech Vudu 5-25 (a little heavy at 29oz but a lot of scope for the weight).
    - entire rifle is 10.8lbs loaded with the stock pack and biPod, just over 7lbs bare

Nice looking rig. I did too many hybrid style rifles including my way too customized Mauser in 6.5-284 that I finally needed a more dedicated lightweight build.

Ya it’s pretty darn heavy. Luckily I’m young and dumb still lol.

When I shoot the barrel out, I’m planning on putting a proof carbon sendaro on it. Hopefully that will cut some weight off.

BTW that Mauser is a great looking rifle.

Haha that’s exactly what I was going to do, and get away from 6.5-284. I love the cartridge but it’s not long enough to work on the Mauser CRF reliably.

Mine is nothing fancy. Trued Remington 700, 26 inch 300 win mag Bartlien barrel, timney 517, bedded in a Grayboe renegade stock, Hawkins muzzle brake and bdl bottom metal. Scope is a 4-20 Burris xtrii.
Other is not really a long range rig but it’s my go to hunting rifle. Remington factory barreled action in 30-06, grayboe stock, just put a trigger tech primary in it. Scope is a 2-10 Leupold vx5hd. Just installed cds dial on it.

That’s a thing of beauty. I hadn’t considered the NX8 but it looks like that 2.5-20 comes in just lighter than my Vudu. Sounds like a good option to consider!

    That’ll do!

    I’ve pulled the trigger on @b6graham ‘s 7SAW. It’s a laser beam.
I’m a massive fan mate. Due to calibre limitations on one particular deer species here and wanting to be somewhat minimalist, I went with that over a creed or something smaller than 7mm. It’s got solid performance with a range of powders too.

I haven’t seen an Eotech Vudu since SHOT and wish I’d have spent more time with them. How are you liking it.

Not nearly as nice as some of these, but my take on an all around long range hunting rig, with trying to stay under $2500. Going to be hunting antelope to elk.

What powder you using for 3100 fps? I’m getting 3000 out of a 28” krieger with 208,s

    VV N570

I am loading them as long as the magazine will allow and putting all the powder in the case I can. That reamer allows a lot of freebore and its not getting hardly any pressure with that load.

Load development was easy. Wind was unusually calm the first day so I decided to do it at 500. Not picky at all. Biggest group of the day was the 130gr Berger AR Hybrids at .632 MOA. Best was 42gr H4350 behind the Berger 140gr Elite Hunter. That went .498 MOA. Five 5-shot groups with 5 different loads averaged .555 MOA at 500 yards.

The next day, I picked the best charge from my 500 yard load development and put 5 rounds on paper at 100 to make sure I had a good zero. Wind was gusting hard and bench was really wobbly or it would have been better. Made a .1 adjustment and reset the zero indicator. Battery ran out on my chronograph so I made a guess on velocity and took it to 820 to use the velocity truing function on Ballistic AE. Group was 4.5” low at 820 so I put that in Ballistic AE and it determined true velocity was 2790. Fired one more group at 820 using 2790 velocity and it was centered on aiming point.

My brother-in-law swears by his CDL in 7mm rem mag. I've tried to get him to go custom but he says it'll drop everything he points it at if he does his part. Hard to argue with that when he only uses it once or twice a year.
