After about 10,000 rounds my model 11 had tragic ejection and occasional extraction issues.

I had tried to clean thing up, stretch a spring and install a larger detent ball

That kinda helped but ejection was 25% at best and that’s being Optimistic.

That action basically was a barrel and lugs and you had to pull the case out manually.

I got one of the many upgraded bolt head parts kits from Tactical works.

    Just installed it.
    WOW!

It’s never grabbed and kicked cases like that!

I should have done this long ago.

Now I have to upgrade that captain caveman optic.

Which kit did you use? I need to do this to mine, and would like to get known good parts the first try.

I’ll say this I’m happily ejecting spent cases across the room for kitty to pounce on.

I’ve never meet a savage that can do that.

TW is good people. I’ve ordered quite a few times from them.

Mine was having issues after only 1500 rounds.
I ordered just ordered and installed the kit from gun shack. Had I known before hand that a site sponsor sold the kit I would have got it from them.

anyway, it will now fling those empties right out of there. Old spring vs new

their target trigger spring is pretty awesome as well.

My bad as I didn’t realize my sources was a site sponsor.

i ordered the target spring as well. however after further inspection someone some done some funny business with the trigger. Not stock configuration. It shoot wells through. No take up, breaks very crisp and light, so I’m just gonna leave it for now

OK, this is very good for a fix, but until you do the fix, shooting can become near impossible.

The first time I had this problem it was the first day in a week long competition, and it could have turned my entire week-long cross country trip into a disaster.

    Imagine a really distant hunt.

But a friend (gunsmith) was already prepared for this and even with several extractor failures, my match never skipped a beat.

He gave me one of these. Yeah, I know; minimalist to the degree of being ludicrous.

But it was precisely the tool I needed. You reach the hook into the lug recess, hook onto the cartridge rim, and pull. Period.

If that case isn't coming on out, the extractor isn't the problem; get out the cleaning rod.

This issue is often/usually (in my case always) due to an overly hot load. Adjust loads accordingly.

This also works with other brands of bolt actions.

Once you've returned to civilization; do the above fix(es?).
