    I am not a big fan of Ted Cruz but I like this bill that he's introduced.



    The bad news, as Prof. Nordlinger correctly states, is that no matter what is proposed, they won't go along because they hate Trump. Regardless of that, the Democrats, if they reject this bill, will look even worse when it comes ot refusing funding for the border wall.

    It probably won't go anywhere but he and Senator Cornyn have introduced a Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill which you can read about here.

    There are a lot of answers to that question but I'd just say that it's better late than never.

    Don't get me wrong. I'm just as upset at some of the do-nothing-republicans as I am of the democrats. The reality, on the other hand, is that we have a serious problem with our porous border. We needed a wall 40 years ago and we need it more now.

    Doing nothing now is like saying (after your home has been burglarized); "Yes, I realize that all my valuables have been stolen but I'm still going to keep all my doors and windows open whether I'm home or not."

    Because it makes them look tough and gain fans (aka donations to their campaigns) even though they not only know it will not pass...they do not WANT it to pass or they would have passed it when Repubs controlled everything.

    They ARE doing Nothing, even though it looks as if they are doing SOMETHING...that is what we are saying.

    IF they really wanted to do something, specifically in Texas.....We have this thing called the Texas State Guard (Not be be confused the Texas National Guard).....activate them ALONG with the Texas National Guard. Texas Governor should recall every Texas National Guard member currently activated by Federal Government and put them on the border with orders to kill anyone crossing outside of legal entries.

    Also maybe start by having Ted show up to more than 40 percent of his work days this term cycle...that would be a start..maybe...

    You don't get any argument from me on that. I'd like to shoot every border jumper on sight as soon as they put one foot on US soil.

    I'd like to round up every border jumper that's living in the US right now, kick them out of the country and tell them they will be shot on sight if they ever come back here again.

    I'd like to see to it that every border jumper that is here illegally and can't be caught be starved to the point that they have no choice to go back to their old country.

    I agree with you that something should have been done a long time ago. The sad fact, however, is we also have no other choice but to do something now. That means contacting our elected representatives and asking them to support the EL CHAPO act.

    40+ years of inaction on illegals coming across our border, i seriously doubt anything will change in my lifetime. Republicans will cave on this shutdown any day now and give away the wall for absolutely nothing. Meanwhile El Chapos wife, flush with cash from his drug and murder empire comes and goes across our border with impunity, they should hang her corpse at a border crossing along with him and his spawn.

    Drafting a bill that you know won’t go anywhere, when you could have gotten it passed 2 years ago, IS DOING NOTHING! That is THE ESSENSE of a “do nothing Congress.” Draft a bill that your voters will love. Watch it die. Point fingers across the isle at the big ol’ meanies that didn’t vote for your bill. Beg for re-election funds so that you can defeat the big ol’ meanies. Rinse. Repeat.

    There are ways to drastically reduce the number of illegal immigrants in the USA without a wall of any sorts. I will attempt to briefly explain lol.

    So when I work and live in pretty much any country of the MENA region of the world I must carry and show my passport (They check stamps and visas) pretty much everywhere I purchase anything from.
    Hotel...They photocopy passport
    Apartment...They photocopy passport
    Currency Exchange...They photocopy passport
    Bank...They photocopy passport
    Rental Car...They photocopy passport
    Grocery Store...They check passport
    Convenience Store...They check passport
    You get the drift :)

    So institute that sort of immigration control here in USA, seize assets and close any commercial/private entity caught not enforcing the policy...then sit back and watch Mexico build a wall.

    Papers and data bases have to been checked. after the wall goes up i will be looking forward to deporting illegals.

    Because as you know, they know, nothing will get done.

    Status quo and sliding into third world existence is the goal of both parties.

    If we become a political, cultural mess just look how much success the UN will have created in raising the standard of living in every other shithole, relatively speaking.
     
    the money taken from el chapo should be deposited in the general fund, no more shell games with the budget. just stop. pay for the wall through appropriations and stop usig seized money to pay for law enforcement it encourages bad behavior by the popo. and a lot of resentment by the general citizenry.
