Possibly. But a secondary effect is that fuel oil is used during a unit startup, and that is way more often than one would think, and the price of that is passed onto the consumers.

Most things have to be approved by regulators for consumers eating it.

Electrical generation can't support an electric fleet in reality. Fossil plants reliability is degraded beyond anything you'd believe.

Coal costs much more now due to bam bams war on coal currently, now they're causing this situation with fuel oil.
