Sounds like somebody's authority wasn't respected.

A Rochester police officer is on desk duty after he was caught on camera forcefully handcuffing an emergency medical technician who’d reportedly bumped his squad car with her ambulance door just outside a hospital.

According to News 10 Rochester, the Monroe Ambulance EMT was attempting to unload a patient in the ambulance bay area at Strong Memorial Hospital when she hit the cop’s car. The officer then demanded the EMT give him her identification, but the health-care worker was more concerned about getting the patient inside the hospital for treatment, the report says.

In a video of the incident obtained by News 10, the EMT can be seen standing next to a colleague at the hospital check-in desk with the patient on a stretcher. The investigator, who is wearing a red shirt, then rushes toward the EMT, pushing her into a wall before handcuffing her and escorting her out of the hospital. The medical worker was ultimately released from custody without charges being filed.

In a statement released Friday on Facebook, Monroe Ambulance said the EMT made the correct call in bringing the patient inside the hospital as soon as possible.

“While the incident is still under internal investigation, our review of the video footage of the event indicates the safety of both our employee and that of her patient were jeopardized by the action of the officer,” the statement said. “Our employee demonstrated sound decision making by prioritizing the care of her patient and it is the expectation of all our care providers to do the same.”

“Furthermore, we do not believe the behavior of the officer aligns with the values of RPD leadership and should in no way condemn the rest of the brave brothers and sisters in blue. We are eager to learn of the outcome of RPD’s official investigation,” the statement added.

The Rochester Police Department tweeted a statement Friday, saying it has opened an internal investigation into the arrest and “prides itself on providing professional and courteous services to [the] community.”

“I demand the members of the Rochester Police Department perform their duties in a professional manner,” Rochester police chief David Smith said. “And as such, we must hold ourselves to a high standard of accountability.”

The officer involved has since been assigned to administrative duties.

She bumped his car with her door. It's not like she was doing something crazy like trying to save her child from being murdered by a school shooter.

What a fucking moron. Desk duty, should be on job hunting duty.

There's not a lot of good news around the country concerning the police lately. This cop is a moron and if he has anger issues, probably doesn't need to wear a badge.
Any good news there could be certainly would not be reported. Remember, they want federalized police. They don't want police that ignore their illegal "Lockdown" orders and such.

That's a fella that needs an off duty beat down about 6 months from now when he thinks all is forgotten. Just not enough good old fashioned cause and effect in today's litigious, selfish society.
It will be interesting when a cop calls for medical help. My guess is that as soon as the EMTs know the injury is not life threatening, the cop’s ride will be long, bumpy, and filled with excessively large needles inserted poorly and repeatedly. The cop is stupid as fuck.

Sir our new policy requires a catheter in all patients before hospital arrival. Pass me the Foley size FR30. Well shit somebody forgot to refill the KY Jelly. Hold on to your nuts sir you may feel some pressure.

The same brave brothers and sisters in blue that would have piled on if she had resisted and then lied about it?

This manufactured love among Brothers in Blue is fucking nauseating. No other gang, with the exception of outlaw biker gangs, carry on like this. It's disgusting.

You want to see this video from a few years ago. It's where a nurse was manhandled and arrested for not following her hospital's policies. This cop drags her out of the hospital, throws cuffs on her and then places her in his cop car.

If you don't like cops, this is a good video. BTW, she was award $500,000 and he was fired.

Too bad the taxpayers were the ones that had to pay.
Ten dollars says that he's currently employed at another department.
He may have been fired but he still has his certification which should have been deleted until his death.

Makes you wonder, what were they thinking, or if they’ve recently failed a drug test.

I remember that.

They really talk like this amongst themselves. You aren’t a supporter so you don’t have access to the “private” section. They see themselves as separate and above us and not the same as us. I see them separate and below us. Either way we are two groups that are in a power struggle with one another. We have the numbers while they have the backing of the state.

Should be fired and charged with false imprisonment and battery, will get a paid vacation instead.

“Gee, why do people want to defund us”

Also funny how tuff police are with a unarmed EMT girl, but run and hide like a bitch when someone is shooting kids with a rifle.

Despite having been fucked over by LE in the past, I've tried my best to maintain respect. Thats wearing thin.

Look at the 3 turds in the video...they look like rejects from the retard bin.

I love when they open lengthy investigations into something completely caught on video, what are they going to do interview the car door and see if it was injured? The guy tried to stop a medical professional from transporting a emergency patient for care, the investigation should be the same length of time it takes to watch the video, then prompt termination, with him being required to stamp every future job application with “Under no circumstances should this applicant be given any position that has any authority, ever.”

I love your last statement. Since 2020 it seems like the so-called medical professionals and law enforcement have fallen in the eyes of most Americans.

Me, I lost all respect for medical community when I saw how my father passed away on what, while could have been a long road recovery, was completely botched by the hospital (doctors and most nurses (not all as there is hope with nurses)).

LE on the other hand, I've always thought have the opinion they are the law, and not enforcers of the law. I'll leave it at that so I'm not perma-banned. However, I think people have opened their eyes to this and are now seeing the over-steps (and utter incompetence) by departments (local, state, federal). We're going to have a long, pot-hole filled road ahead of us - truly depressing. Where are Reed and Malloy when you need them, and Sgt. MacDonald too?

Having worked in a EMS setting for a while, this study is of zero surprise, medical fuck ups are the 3rd leading cause of death.

When it comes to a small level 2 or 3 trauma center, or other remote hospital, I always ask the doctor how long he’s been in the area and where he lives and if he has family around.

If the answer is he doesn’t live around there, or doesn’t have family or something he seems to love about the area, I get another doctor or transfer to the closest level 1, which 80% chance I’ll do anyways.

There are two basic reasons doctors work at those smaller shops,

1 they LOVE the area, or they have family around

2 it’s the best they can do

As for cops, went from looking up to them as a kid, later thinking they just need better training and support, to there are just some
bad apples, but now Im onboard with defunding them, I have no use for police, I make good money but not enough to get them to do their jobs vs just “that’s a civil matter” if I’m a victim of a crime.

Maybe if I was in a position to donate 50k to the local sheriffs re-election Id get better service. But a pension and qualified immunity don’t make for a good workforce.

Absolutely.

What do you think would have happened if some citizen came storming into an ER and assaulted an EMT, claiming she bumped his car with the ambulance door when she was unloading a patient?

He would get treated for multiple bumps and bruises and tazer prong holes before being transported to jail and undergo a psychiatric evaluation for clearly being a dangerous lunatic. Assaulting a medical professional is now a felony. He could forget ever owning any guns again.

And yet this cocksucker is put on paid desk duty and 'sent back for more training' or worse case scenario fired and allowed to go to another dept. He is definitely a brother in blue and now has street cred to prove it.

And it's not like she bumped his brand new Camearo Zl1, it was a department vehicle.

Back the blue...yeah fuck that!

Lest we forget cops are much more likely to be doing criminal shit vs the average non cop CCW

At least if it’s a crack head who attacks you, you have a better chance not having your life destroyed if you defend yourself.

Many people foolishly believe that the police represent a cross section of the population. This is absolutely false. Certain personality types are drawn to the job resulting in what you showed. I would wager that the difference is even further apart than what the official numbers illustrate.

A seriously bad move on the cop's part. I worked streets and highways, as a paramedic, and we worked together pretty closely. We needed someone on our 6, and they needed to know that the medic working on them was going to do a great job holding in their guts. In my time I had many cops tell me "If I get hit, I hope you are on duty." Works both ways. That poor cop may have doomed himself to bleeding out right there in the street. Someday. Just sayin'.
He needs to go into Accounting. Or writing jingles for greeting cards.

As a former LEO, many need a good old fashioned ass whoopin, attitude adjustment. It was a big part of why I left the field. Way too many assholes with a badge, cuffs and pistol that take great pleasure in bullying and agitating, rather than serve and protect. I also know many good cops. Just way to many POS ones.

I think removing qualified immunity and teaching (to correlation not rote) jury nullification as a requirement and the full bill of rights and federalist papers before graduating high school would fix most of that.

For little things like this, I would agree with you. But if a cop is involved in anything from injury to death, cops would have to defend themselves in court way too many times. The government won't help them, and we're talking large numbers here.

What is your opinion of the government these men protect and it’s agenda they force upon us? If your opinion matches mine then you wouldn’t have any sympathy for anything that were to happen to these enforcers. We don’t need them. We need good men to act without fear of reprecussion from the state.

LE is like the mafia. When you get hired, you are in a sense, getting made. As a CHL instructor and former cop told the class, LE is the biggest, most organized gang on the street.

That means you can fuck with people and like Ray Liotta said in Goodfellas, nobody can fuck with you.

There are three types of LEO: the ones who are bullies and agitators, the ones who are just lazy and useless and the ones who do the job, as intended.

If they are scared, for their qualifications, take a job at the garden department at lowes.

I honestly have no need for LE
