Accuracy International Picture Thread

Just need a scope. The Vision grip panels are pretty badass - albeit expensive. I think apart from waiting for the top rail for the AX, these two are pretty much done.

Went back to Altus today with my buddy to practice for the next match. Both running the Accuracy obsession chassis on our AIs. His is the vision version though. Also rocking the Brandt built Ocular Can’t indicator

Y’all are switching barrels? I’m still trying to burn my 308 barrel out before I screw on the dreaded 260 barrel that’s sitting neglected in my safe.

Cause anything under 1 mile w 33XC is a waste...

I just twist until snug, then back off a hair and snap it tight with one fast twist. Then I just use a fix it to 55lb on the screw.

when I had my AX I found 55lb gives me more consistency than the quoted 49 for some reason. Just carried on the practice when I got my AT.

Interesting! Thanks for your input.

I wonder if it has to do anything with tolerance. Even fix it sticks have a 6% +\- tolerance

I was looking for a wrench as well, there's not enough space to grip my 18.5" 308 completely. Figured I'd either but the Borka wrench or a cheap wrench and cut it down to size.

My kit is setup with the Borka for $12 from mile high. Then wheeler fat wrench for 60 inch lbs based on recommendations here

If for some reason the barrel doesn’t come off easy the borka has the drives on it to use a socket wrench

For tightening I just got hand tight. Slight snug with the wrench. 60 inch lbs on the screw. Worked good for my AT. AXMC will have the same treatment

Hello 👋 from across the pond.

20220917_133051.jpg

Got me a Thumbhole on the way. Couldn't decide between going the whole hog with the AX conversion or getting the Thumbhole. For the sake of £56 I thought I'd try the Thumbhole first.

I was considering getting a contrast cerakote on the action and barrel.. I was thinking FDE or PB.

Thumbhole is the lords AI. You made the right choice and when judgment day comes you'll be seated at his right hand.

Rain Shmain, A bit of bad weather rolls in and the only thing that shows up at the range for some 1200-1500 yard shooting is a pair of AI's. Spotting was tough for sure, but the rifles performed flawlessly ,as expected, AI's don't give a crap about environmental conditions, you press the trigger and it goes BANG. lol

Great range day at the QSC. Started off hosting day 2 of the VA State Steel Challenge Championships then moved to Range 4 to shoot a 1000yd day with 10 differing sized steel targets from 609yds to 1,035yds, and the 1,000yd milk jug challenge. Four of us hit the jug within the allotted 5 shots and with no coaching/spotting. I was using the MC in 300 PRC and had the center right hit on my 3rd shot.

Previous MC photo for the thread as I didn't take one today:

Snuck in a shot of my son shooting out to 1297 yrds. We shoot at a military range and they don’t allow pictures of the range. Steel targets move randomly weekly. We range, shot and impact targets at 852, 906, 1152, and 1297 today. Using 155 gr Palma’s all day.. Like it ain’t no thing to it with this AX. Ranged another one at 1673 yrds though never tried. But it was a nice day at the range shooting with the AI.

So apparently Accuracy International don't distribute the Thumbhole Stock in Elite Sand in the UK 🤔 😔

Potentially going to look at ordering the AX Stock instead then.. guessing they won't do that in Elite Sand either despite selling rifles with it on.

Well now I don't know what to do..

I think I read somewhere AIs Elite Sand is proprietary and you can't get Cerakote or anything in the same colour?

So I guess I'm left with buy a Thumbhole in a different colour and Cerakote it all to match or do something else...

GCP Rifle Co has the elite sand cerakote. They custom color matched my vision chassis when I sent it in last year and it is spot on. I don't know how that will work for you as it seems you’re across the way but maybe if you find an exceptional person that does cerakote, they may be able to color match it

That's reassuring.. but I don't quite fancy posting a Thumbhole across the pond to cerakote it.. maybe I can find somewhere in the UK that'll do it.

Have a chat with Mark at FMJ Firearms, he’s here in UK and has matches for most AI colours I believe.

He’s on here somewhere too if you search

Anyone know who's gun this is? I think I found this picture on here (possibly even in this very thread) a while ago. Was hoping to find some additional high res pictures and maybe even get some info on what rattle can colors were used. TIA.
Hey man,
That's my old AT.

In Australia, we have access to Tamiya model paint spray cans. They do a tonne of matte, military colours for planes / tanks etc. that are fairly nice. They scratch off if you don't clear coat them (I don't).

I'm not sure which colours it ended up with, that was from about 2017.

I normally use similar colours though, such as:
