Just what the country needs now is a massive quake series zippering up the West Coast. I hope the National Guard has updated their plans from the 90s. They had some scenarios that were pretty grim in days 7-30.

Agreed. I’ve always thought that it’s too bad Miss Teschmacher didn’t mind her own business. If she had then we’d have Otisburg instead of San Fran/LA/etc and far fewer problems!!!

Portland/Seattle will end upon the ocean floor before LA/SF.

Portland is far inland. Seattle and San Fran have a bay system lot of high ground to get high on before the Tsunami. LA is flat with not much of a beach barrier. LA and San Fran have a lot more people and little place for them to go for help. Just go watch the videos of the Fukushima tsunamis.

The lack of drinking water will be a much bigger problem in LA and San Fran. And is the source of much of the grim scenarios. West Hollywood ended the Rodney King Riots. It was not clear in the 90s post-8.x what would address the civil unrest once it got going. The LA MSA is well north of ten million people. The key will be getting all those people focused on getting water and food from local distro points rather than going looking for trouble.

I don't want to start any baseless rumors, but wouldn't widespread cannibalism erupt in L.A. and the rest of the west coast? All those jacuzzis turned into crockpots...

😢

How dare you insert facts into a heated conversation amongst tards......

California, from San Diego to Marin County is going to slip and shake- for a long time to come. 5.1 and shallow is nothing to get lathered up about as it's relatively minor. A subduction quake, like Fukishima, will be what takes out everything west of I-5 from Ft Bragg to Vancouver, CA.
Totally different beast.
Californians are reminded, often enough, to keep an earthquake kit handy. The PNW, not so much.
Shit will get real and real fast.

When I lived in Lo Cal we also named our pets after our fave dishes. The cat was low mein and the dog was ham hock. And yes those two large rubber maids were full of supplies

Well, I guess that is one way to “hide the supplies…” if ya know what I mean.

5.1 ain't jack shit.
Come bother me when it's 8.1 or higher.
I lived out there when the Saugus Newhall quake hit, and that was 7.1 if I remember right....and not near strong enough.

This thread is useless !!! unless CA Fell Off....
Which I have mixed feelings about because on one hand California does need a good cleanse on the other it would basically wipe out both me and the wifes entire family trees except for us and our 2 kids.

Might be time to get into real estate .

Let's look on the bright side , the German might be able to launch his sub from his current location .

I received my intel from a geophysicist with two PhD's (MIT and Stanford) when I was visiting Stanford- he expects the pacific NW to go before SF/LA. SF is semi-prepared after the last big one in terms of construction, but Pacific NW isn't.
