People voting for libertarians remind me of the videos of roadside automotive fires in India and Eastern Europe (their cars catch fire all the time and at alarming rates), where there is a bunch of bystanders all armed with small totable extinguishers, and they are running one by one up to the fire, and each person discharging an anemic cumshot of extinguisher onto the fire before their canisters run out. The fire buckles, sometimes even hiccups, but then roars right back to full intensity. Instead of doing that, if someone had told them to stop whatever the fuck they were doing, and all go up to the fire in unison, and discharge their combined 6-7 extinguishers at once in a coordinated volley, that might be enough to put the fire out until emergency services arrive.

The standoff is the latest controversy surrounding the Biden administration’s botched 2021 evacuation from Afghanistan, which left 13 Americans dead and thousands more stranded in the Taliban-controlled country.
