I have watched those old vids a few times.

Wonderful stuff.

I love it up there and look forward to my next trip.
Good friends, in their 80’s now, have a cabin and land up there.
May go up in June to do some work for them. They need a little help these days with some of the tasks.

The ingenuity and resourcefulness of the old-timers is intriguingly brilliant.

I had a close encounter with a cat a 1/3 of that size and it was terrifying. I couldn't imagine coming across that monster.
Details?

I don’t like it when my lazy, worthless house cats get a little crazy. The thought of coming across something 10x their size and hungry will probably legit give me nightmares
Messi The Puma - Rescued - But 1/3 the size of a normal Puma.

I love these videos. Even after my comments above, the idea of keeping a large cat as a “pet” sounds so awesome

When I still worked for the electric co-op I was in a somewhat rural area walking looking for the source of a faulted line. There was a path that the cows had made that comes around the lime stone ledges around this seasonal creek. I came around a sharp corner in the ledges and this cat had its head buried in a deer carcass. It just looked up, growled and went back to eating. I just quietly backed up around the corner, and made my way back to the truck. The rancher came back out there with me and the carcass had been dragged into the dense brush by the time we got back out there. The cat looked like it was about the size of our golden retriever. They look really fucking scary when there covered in blood to there shoulders. It was early in the morning, enough where you didn't need a flashlight. This was in north Texas in the Paluxy area, we live about 10 miles from where I saw that one The neighborhood we live in there has been one spotted on game and security cameras. They are not prevalent here, but there here.

Someone I used to work with lives in the foothills SW of Denver and saw one walking along a path behind their house one weekend morning. He got everyone up as quietly as possible to see it. He said it was amazing and beautiful and all the things. But it dawned on him that this amazing, adorable killing machine was walking through his backyard. On a trail that they walk on several times a week.

I’d love to see one in the wild but I definitely don’t want to surprise one while it’s eating. I bet it wasn’t as cute and cuddly looking covered in blood and baring it’s teeth…
